HomeMy WebLinkAboutTB-03/11/1952418 MEETING OF NARCH 11, 1952 The Southold Town Board met at the office of ~upervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday, March ll, 1952. The meeting was called to order at l:30 P.M. with the following present:'~Superv~sor Klipp; Justices Terry, muthill and Clark;Town Superintendent of Highways Price; Town~ttorneYTerry and Town Cler~ Booth.~ The Board sat at once as a committee on audit to eXamine claims against the Town~ concluding theaudit work at 2 o'clock P.M. The minutes of the two previous meetings were read and were dul. y approved as read. At 2 o'clock P.M. in accordance with a notice published accord- ing to Law, bids were opened for proposals to furnish the Town ef Southold three 2-door sedan standard model automobiles for use as Police cars. Moved by Sustice Clark; seconded by Justice Terry: WHEREAS, the lowest bid was submitted by the Greenport Auto Sales~ NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Supervisor be and hereby is directed to enter into a contract with the Greenport Auto Sales for the purchase of three 2-door sedan standard model automobiles at a total p~ice of $383k.21, delivery to be made within ninety days. Vote of the AoW~Board: Ayes- Supervisor Klipp; Justice Terry, Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Tuthill; seconded by Justice Terry: RESOLVED: That the regular monthly meeting of this Board be held at the office of the Supervisor at Greenport, on Tuesday, March 19~2, at 1:30 P.M. Vote of the Town Board: Ayes- Lupervisor Klipp; Justices Terry, Tuthill and Clark. Moved by Justice Clark; seEond~d by Justice Tuthill: RESOLVED: That Bond No. ls ll7 536 issued by The Aetna Casualty and Surety Company in the s~m of $2,000.00, on behalf of Theresa A. Lindsay, be and the same is hereby approved as to its form, sum, manner of execution and sufficiency of surety therein. Vote'of Town Board: Ayes- Supervisor Klipp; Justices Terry~ Tuthill and Clark. The hearin~ o~the matter of purchasing machinery for the Town Highway Depa~tmemt, which was advertised in accordance of Section lk2 of ~he Highway Law, was duly~'opened at~2:30 o'cloC~.M. ~ ~ No person appeared before the Board to ~peak either for or against the item mentioned in the legal notice. The hearing was duly closed at 3 o'clock P.M. Moved by Justice Terry; seconded by ~ustice Tuthill:~ WHEREAS.the Town Superintendent of Hmghways did on th~ llth day of March ~.~ 1952, duly recommend t~e purchase Of certain ~m~chinery pursuant to the provisions of ~e~tien 1~2 'of theHighWay 'Law, and a not~C~Of such recommendatiom has been'duly published as provided in such section. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that pursuant ~ Section 1~2 of the Highway Law the Town Superintendent of Highways is hereby authorized to purchase' from Edward Ehrbar Inc. with the approval~ of the County - Superintendent of Highways: One Hou~hPayloader? THAT WHEREAS the Town Board of the Town of Southold, New York, after due public notice, by a resolution duly adopted on March ll, 1952, authorized the Town Superintendent of Highways to purchase certain machinery for highway construction and maintenance at a total cost of $11.725.00 subject to the approval of the County Superintendent of~ighways and provided that $5.000i. 00 of such cost was to ~e paid from the proceeds of obligations to be issued pursnant te the Local Finance.~aw, WHEREAS a contract of purchase for such machinery was duly entered into by the Town Superintendent of Highways on March 12, 1952 which contract has been duly approved by the County Superintendent of Highways, NOW~ THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: 1. That the specific object or purpose for which a capital note is to be issued pursuant to this resolution is~to finance a part of the cost o2 certain machinery known as; - One Hough Payloader model H.M. with one and one half yard bucket, with four wheel drive a~d power steer~. The total cost of this machine is $117725.00 and the plan of financing such cost is as follows: By a check drawn from ~e Machinery fund of ~; The balance of the cost is to be provided from the proceeds of a capital note in the amount of $~,O00.00, pursuant to this resolution. ~thereto. The following determinations are hereby ma.de;; (A) The periodof probable usefulness of ~his mschihe is five years. (~) The subdivision of paragraph A of Section ll.O0 of the Local Finance Law which is applicable~in the circumstances is subdivision "2~". (C) The proposed maturity of the obligation authorized by this resolution will not be in excess of.~!ae year. This resolution shall take effect dmmediately. THE QUESTION OF THE ADOPTION OF THE FOREGOING RESOLUTION WAS DULY PUT TO A VOTE WHICH RESULTED AS FOLLOWS~ AYES...~.. Quarty be and hereby is appointed Watchman to serve in such capacity at the Southold TOwn Police Headquarters, and be it further RE~OLVED: That~El~er K. Quarty~be compensated for such services at the rate of seven Dollars ($7.00) per diem, payable in regular bi- weekly payments, and be it further RESOLVED:-Tha~ this appointment take effect March 22, 1952. Klipp he .and hereby is authori~d on behalf of the Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District, to enter into Supplementary Agreement No.. 1 Lease Contract No.DA30-O75- cng-1538 with the Corps of Engineers, U.S.Army, New York District, for the leasing of the airfield and hangar building No. 25~ and buildings No. T-365 and 127 located at Fort H.G.Wright, Fishers Island, New York, for a term from January 1, t9~2 to December ~1,1952, at a rental rate of Twelve Dollars ($12.00) per annum, payable in advance. Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Justice Tuthill: At a meeting of the Towm Board of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, held at 16 South Street, Municipal Building in the Village of Greenport, New York on the llth day af March, 1952. Clark, Justice of the Peace IN THE MATTER OF The petition for the establishment of a Refuse and Garbage District at Fishers Island in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York. WHEREAS, a written petition, dated August 21, 1951, in due form and containing the required signatures has been presented to and filed with the Tow~ Board of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, for the establishment of a Refuse and Garbage District in the said Town, to be described as fellerS: All the real property of Fishers ~sland, in the Town CoUnty of Suffolk and State of New York, inclusive of Fishers Island, with the exception of certain parcels, which are the property of the United States Government, said tracts being ~know~as "fort H G. Wright","Mount Prospect", "Wilderness Point" and "Coast Guard'Statien~No. 59",all as show~ on Map accompany- ing the petition, said territory being bounded and described as follows: ~ On the North by Fishers Island SoUnd; em the Block Island SoUnd; on the South by Black Is and U.S. Government-reservations; on the West by Fort H.~G.
