Meetin~ of AUgust 7, 1~45
The Southo!d Town Board met aZ the offfice of Supervisor S. went-
worth Horton, at Greenport on Tuesday, August 7, t~45. The meeting
was called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present: ~
8upervisor.Horton, Justices Terry; Hawkins; Klipp..a~d Case~T9wn
Superintenaent of~Hi~hway~ Price; Town A~t0rney T&r~y and'TOwn~Glerk
Booth.
The Boari sat at once as a committee on audit to examine claims against
the Town, concluding the audit at 2:0G p.~.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and duly approved as
Moved by Justice Hawkins; seconded by Justice K]ipp:
Resolved: That General Bills in the amount of $4,651o51, Reimbursable
Welffare Bills in the amount of .90, Non-reimbursable Welfare Bills
in the amount of $88.53 be and the same is hereby ordered paid.
Unamimously adopted.~
Moved by Justice Klipp; seconded by Justice Case:
Resolved: That the Supervisor transfer from the surplus fund to
the .Ge~eralFund the sum of $50.00 for police purposes and the
sum~Of to cover expenditures at the To~ Beach in excess
of the budget.
Unanimously adopted.
Moved by J~stice Ter=y; seconded hy Justice Klipp:-
· EIEREAS, it appears in the Resolution adopted by the $outhold
Tow~ Board in reference to the abandonment of an ~msued portion cf
a highWay at Orient, Suffolk Gou~,ty, New York, described i~ the
petition of Rutledge M. Howard and others, that it was erroneously,
passed in that it included the names of 'Ezra H.' Young and Grace S.
Young, his wife,
TH~,PdEFORE, RESOLVED, that said Resolution he rescinded and ths~
the application of Rutledge M. Howard and Mabel T. Howard, his wife,
for the abandonment of said ro~d be approved.
Four votes in the affirmative, Justice ~se not voting.
A petition was read from a group of residents of Peconic comp~lain-
lng about a wrecked building north afros Rosalind smith's prop-
er~y on Peconic Land at G61dsmith's Inlet, asking the Town Board
if they could take steps to have the wr~cked building removed.
The Town, Board instructed the Town ~lerk to cmmm~ui~ate
B.K, Switzer one of the signers and inform her that the Board
would be only to glad to! assist in having the~wrtcked build:trig
removed if it were in their power to do so, but ~hat the
Board has no jurisdiction to enter on private property, In
so doing would be trespassing.
Ir'was ~nimously agreed that the Town Board make its' 0f~.Zcial
visit to Fishers Island on T~esday Aug, 28, i94~, leaving Grient'
Point Doak at ll A~M. on~ ~apt. Radnor ~ickham,s ~oat ~Al~a~ ..
