A groupe of residents of the Park District attendee
the meeting in specific reference to information on
the purchase, by the District, of the Schwicker Estate
property on Marratooka Lake.
Mr. George Penny asked who owned the triangular
shaped piece of property near Mattituck Lanes. This
question was asked relative to hearing the minutes
of the October meeting. Mr. Murphy said the State did
and he did not feel it would be deeded over but that
someone should do something about keeping it in decent
appearance.
Mr. Cuddy asked if the Commissioners had had a
public hearing on the acquisition of the Marratooka
Lake property. Mr. Murphy answered that. we had not.
A general discussion of the people followed in
regards to the property. The Commissioners were asked
as to what their intentions were for the future use
of the property and they replied they had not im-
mediate plans but were interested mainly in acquiring
it to preserve it from having houses or a business
bui~t on it.
The general consensus of opinion was that the
property should be preserved but that should the
Park District purchase it some type of guarantee should
be put on record as to its use.
Mr. Cuddy asked to go on record requestings a
public meeting to let the pepple of the District know
all the facts about the acquisition and partiCularly
the intentions of the Commissioners for this property.
Mr. Edward Wirsing also asked for a public meeting.
Mrs. Cafree asked about the disposition of the
dock at Love Lane and Mr. Murphy said nothing definite
had been decided on it but that launching facilities and
toilet facilities would be maintained there.
