In the absence of Mr. Bergen, Mr. IWphy was ap- pointed temporary chairman. Minutes of 1.ast month's meeting were read and approved. The following bU1.s were approved for payment. L.I.L.Co. Account Reserve Fund $ 8,885.04 1.0,099.38 6.661..38 $25,645.80 Mr. Reeve asked about taking up the floats at the Love Lane site. Mr. Murphy said he wouJ.d taJ.k to Mr. Reeve (Tom). Mr. Murphy suggested purchasing the materiaJ.s for park benches and misce1.1.aneous items needed by the District at different sites and have the Mattituck High SchooJ. shop classes do the work inasmuch as the Industri.. Arts Department had no money 1.ef't in the budget for suppUes. This was agreed to and l~ Murphy was to see Mr. Fisher the shop teacb:'imd Mr. Burns, the District PrincipaJ. . Mr. Reeve said he had taJ.ked to Mr. Lohr of Su:rfoJ.k Cement and. he is interested in the removal. of gravel. for another year. A groupe of residents of the Park District attendee the meeting in specific reference to information on the purchase, by the District, of the Schwicker Estate property on Marratooka Lake. Mr. George Penny asked who owned the triangular shaped piece of property near Mattituck Lanes. This question was asked relative to hearing the minutes of the October meeting. Mr. Murphy said the State did and he did not feel it would be deeded over but that someone should do something about keeping it in decent appearance. Mr. Cuddy asked if the Commissioners had had a public hearing on the acquisition of the Marratooka Lake property. Mr. Murphy answered that. we had not. A general discussion of the people followed in regards to the property. The Commissioners were asked as to what their intentions were for the future use of the property and they replied they had not im- mediate plans but were interested mainly in acquiring it to preserve it from having houses or a business bui~t on it. The general consensus of opinion was that the property should be preserved but that should the Park District purchase it some type of guarantee should be put on record as to its use. Mr. Cuddy asked to go on record requestings a public meeting to let the pepple of the District know all the facts about the acquisition and partiCularly the intentions of the Commissioners for this property. Mr. Edward Wirsing also asked for a public meeting. Mrs. Cafree asked about the disposition of the dock at Love Lane and Mr. Murphy said nothing definite had been decided on it but that launching facilities and toilet facilities would be maintained there. . , ~ COIIJIDiesioner Murphy resolved that before any action is taken on the development of this propert~ the Commissioners would hold an open meeting advertised in two newspapers. Mr. Haeg expressed his gratitude to the Com.., missioners for the development of the Park District over the years and commended them for their foresight. Mr. Murphy asked if there was anything further to come before the meeting. The results of the election were as follovs: Total. Number Ballots Cast 104 Total Number Votes - Comm. Reeve 100 Total. Number Vote - Lois Barker (write in) 1 Total. Number Void Votes 2 Total Number Blank Votes 1 Total Number Votes for Chester Melot 98 Inspectors of' Election were Clarence Bennett, David Tuthill and IUth Krause.
