The proposed action has been reviewed to Cbapter 95, Waterfront Consistency Review of the Town of Southold Town Code and the Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (L WRP) Policy Standards. Based upon the information provided on the L WRP Consistency Assessment Form submitted to this department as well as the records available to me, it is my determination that the proposed action is generally CONSISTENT with the Policy Standards and therefore is CONSISTENT with the L WRP provided that the following standard best management practices are implemented. Pursuant to Olapter 95, the Planning Board shall consider this recommendation in preparing its written determination regarding the consistency of the proposed action. Policy 5. Protect and improve water quality and supply in the Town of South old. To further Policy 5, and protect and improve the water quality and supply in the area, consider the following: 1. Encourage the use of ap.propriate grass varieties (eg,. sun tolerant vs. shade tolerant). 2. Require a three (3) year survival requirement for all planted vegetation. . 3. If applicable. recorrunend the use of mulch materials generated by the Town of Southold Compost Facility in order to contribute to the replenishment of Olianic matter in local soils and help reduce the reliance of fertilizers and herbicides and minimize the reduction of fertilizers and herbicides in the Town's ground and surface waters. 4. Require native and dro~t-tolerant plants in landscaping. 5. Recorrunend low flow toilets to conserve water usage when and if a structure is constructed.
