A regular meeting of the Board of Town Trustees was held at
7:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 1, 1981, at the ToWn Hall, Main Road,
Southold, New York.
Present were:
President Anna T. Hataier
Vice-President HenrY P. Smith
Trustee Halsey A. Staples
Trustee Frank A. Kujawski, Jr.
Bay Constable Thomas Czelatka
Ruth Oliva, President, North Fork Environmental Council
President Hataier opened the meeting at 7:30 p.m.
President Hataier made a motion, seconded by Trustee Smith and
carried to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of
February 4, 1981.
President Hataier made a motion, seconded by Trustee Smith and

4, 1981.
The next meeting of the Board will be h~ld on May 6, 1981. ~
On motion made by Trustee Staples, seconded by President Hataier,
it was
RESOLVED that a letter be sent to the Southold Town Board
and the Suffolk County Department of Public Works informing
them that a permit will be necessary from the Town Trustees
for any dredging work done in the mouths of the creeks.
Vote of the Board: 'Ayes: Hataier, Kujawski, Smith, Staples
On motion made by Trustee Kujawski, seconded by Trustee Staples,
it was
RESOLVED that the Board of Town Trustees recommends to the
Town Board that there be an amendment to the Code of the
Town of Southold empowering the bay constable to enforce
the Code as pertains to the Town Trustees jurisdiction.
Vote of the Board: Ayes; Hataier, Kujawski, Smith, Staples
On motion made by President Hataier, seconded by Trustee
Kujawski, it was
RESOLVED to approve the application of Thomas B. Reeve~ Jr.
to extend dock off private property of the applicant at
Mattituck Creek.

The Board will make an investigation of a stake at the southwest
corner of Matt-A-Mar Marina to determine if it is a navigational
hazard.
On motion made by President Hataier, seconded by Trustee Smith,
it was
RESOLVED to approve the application of John H. Billman to
place offshore stake with pulley line to onshore stake off
publicly-leased property at Narrow River.
Vote of the Board: Ayes; Hataier, Kujawski, Smith, Staples
On motion made by President Hataier, seconded by Trustee Smith, it was
RESOLVED to approve the application of Wunnewetta Pond Associatio~
to maintenance dredge to a depth of six feet at MLW through the
entrance to Wunnewetta Pond from Cutchogue Harbor, material to
be placed to north of entrance as beach nourishment.
Vote of the Board: Ayes: Hataler, Kujawski, Smith, Staples
On motion made by President Hataier, seconded by Trustee Kujawski,
it was
RESOLVED to approve the application of William J. Hansen to
~place offshore stake with .pulley line to onshore stake off
public property known as Bayview Avenue South at Arshamomaque
Pond.
Vote of the Board: Ayes: Hataier, Kujawski, Smith, Staples
On motion made by Trustee Smith, seconded by Trustee Staples, it was
RESOLVED to approve the application .of Joseph Hataier to
place an offshore mushroom mooring off publicly-leased
property at Narrow River.
Vote of the Board: Ayes: KujawSki, Smith, Staples
Mrs. Hataier abstained from voting because Mr. Hataier is her son.
On motion made by Trustee Smith, seconded by Trustee Staples, it was
RESOLVED to table the matter of the application of Matt-A-Mar
Marina for proposed finger pier rearrangement because it appears that
work has commenced before issuance of a permit. If such is the case,
President Hataier is authorized to take whatever action is neccessary
to stop the work in progress after consultation with the town
attorney.

President Hataier made a motion to approve the renewal of mooring
permits for the month of May.

Trustee Kujawski made a motion to inform the Town Board that
the trustees feel town lands are involved for the project of the Mud
and Downs Creek bridges and that appropriate permits are necessary
from the Town Trustees. Trustee Hataier seconded the motion and it
was carried.
Trustee Kujawski made a motion that the trustees write a letter
to the Town Board with a copy to Mr. Guldi of the Department of Public
Works that the Board of Town Trustees would like a complete study with
the cooperation of the Suffolk County Community College Marine Center
of the littoral drift and the effects of any jetty or new opening on
the beach in the Cedar Beach area. President Hataier seconded the
motion and it was carried.
There being no further business to come before the board, Trustee
Kujawski made a motion, seconded by Trustee Staples and carried to
adjourn. Meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
