It is still necessary to have the next town-wide meeting for public input and information. Presentations will also eventually be made to the Town Board, East End Transportation Committee, and Albany. The slide show used to illustrate the presentation has been transferred to video. Moore's Woods: Neb reported that the Greenport Board of Trustees has apparently not acted on the $10,000 for Moore's Woods. Ferry Traffic: Bernie presented an Origin-Destination Study done for the North Ferry by Dunn Engineering during the months of June, July, August and September of 1997. It will be used for the LITP 2000 and for a ferry workshop March 19. That meeting will probably be held at The Vineyard Caterers and will be opened by the Secretary of State, Sandy Treadwell. An effort is being made to attract a large representation to the workshop, including people from shoreline communities in Connecticut and Long Island. Bernie led the discussion of the 010 Study. East End Transportation Committee: At the last EETC meeting, a "demand analysis" was presented by the Long Island Railroad. It showed that people have a large interest in the bi-level cars and in express rail service to the East End. Bicvcle Safetv: Glynis and Victor have drawn up a proposal for a bicycle safety program There is now $2150 available. The program will be done through the schools with the help of AAA, presenting safety programs at assemblies in the schools. Victor brought sample clip-on strobe lights that are designed to be used for bicycle safety. If possible, we will try to acquire 1200 so that they can be widely distributed to children to put on their bikes or clothing. Plans are still being considered for a Bike Rodeo for older children and Glynis will go to the EETC in February to discuss a program to teach bike safety to all ages and to the handicapped. Neb noted that two local individuals have started making safety vests available to people who must ride at night, twilight and early moming, particularly migrant workers. The next meeting will be Tuesday, January 18,8 AM at Southold Town Hall. Respectfully submitted, Margaret H. Brown
