A meeting on April 2 focused on the $500,000 platform improvement project and the need to improve tbe parking lot as well. A meeting on April 15. including Supervisor Cochran, Valerie Scopaz and Dick Ward, addressed the issue that the URR proposals for the new station are not acceptable. The URR will be working in the Town of Southoldin 1998. More on LIRR: Supervisor Cochran would like to re-submit the concept of "light rail" transit to the East End Supervisors Meeting April 24, 1996. This was a recommendation to the Governor in the East End Economic and Environmental Task Force report in 1994. A draft recommendation of an East End Light Rail Initiative was prepared by Valene Scopaz for Ms. Cochran to present to the supervisors. Neb and Valerie will write a letter giving a historical view of what has gone into the plans for the initiative for Supervisor Cochran to send to President Prendergast of the LIRR. We will also invite the president to come out and meet with the Transportation Committee. Other Business: Bernie Jacobsen reported that ISTEA is coming up for re-funding. He will keep us informed of opportunities for seeking funding. Ray VanEtten will bring us copies of all the grants that Greenport has applied for.
