President Smith felt that Trustee Cochran would have free time to do alot of ground work for the Board. There was a discussion held, in regard to the "Clerk" of the Board. The Trustees agreed that they would confer with the Town Attorney in reference to the matter, seeing that the Clerk should be chosen from the elected board. President Smith advised the Board that he had been talking to Mr. James McMahon, Administrator of the Community Development Office~ and he suggested that the Trustees write a letter to the Town Board asking to be put in charge of the Seed Clam Program. Mr. McMahon advised President Smith that he has received a good price for seed clams from the Shinnecock Indians which was alot less than the price obtained from Massachusetts. These things have to be acted upon quite quickly. President Smith felt that this program could be managed by the Board: of Trustees. There was some discussion held on what would be entailed, in regard to the Seed Clam Program. Trustee Kujawski pointed out that the Trustees have no authority in a number-of respects, such as they have no right to tell the highway dept.what to do, they don't pay the Bay Constable. Trustee Bredemeyer added it sounds so easy for the Board to take the program. He felt that the Board of Trustees should direct a letter to the Town Board to get the sense of the Board and maybe they will be willing to allocate certain resources or maybe we have to strictly define what our responsibilities will be. Trustee Kujawski suggested that the trustees should request to sit down and discuss the matter, with the Town Board at a work session. A letter was received from the Suffolk Times saying that they not be able to guarantee the printing of the agenda without the Trustees paying for the publishing. Trustee Kujawski suggested that a letter should be sent to the newspaper, telling them that due to the untimely notification of this, the trustee budget has already been approved and the Trustees feel that the printing of this Agenda, is 'in the best interest of the Public, therefore if there is room available, the trustees would appreciate their printing this article. Page 3 Board of Trustees Jan. 3, 1984 Organizational Meeting Trustee Bredemeyer spoke about the Town Insurance Coverage carried on behalf of the Trustees and other divisions, in reference to it being something less than adequate and he wondered if anyone had any thoughts on this. It was consensus of the board to forward a letter to the Town Clerk, with reference to this coverage. There was some discussion held on the Association of Town's Meeting. The Trustees would like to participate in this meeting. It was suggested that the Trustees look into what meetings are available and when they are. Trustee Kujawski asked that the Trustees set their meeting date opposite to the Town Board's meeting date.
