Margaret Brown, Bob Brown, Dwayne Early, Frank Field, Bernie Jacobsen, Barbara Michelson, Valerie Scopaz, Barbara Heaney. Greenport Village Board Rep. Neb attended a meeting in Belmont Park to hear the New York State ISTEA report on our grant. The future of ISTEA is unclear. We should write our congress people to encourage its continuance. To actually receive the money for the grant, we must follow a complicated procedure. First we must request 100% financing from the Town Board in the form of a resolution. 80% of that will ultimately be reimbursed by the grant. We should try to finance any consultants we may need with our own money. Neb has already met with Mr. Cushman to separate out line items that will appear on the Town budget. We will be issued a sheet of paper to be put on their capital development budget, which will allow us to incur expenditures and receive reimbursements. The Town has to note that there is at least $480,000 available to cover this, which can be spread over (possibly) 2 1/2 fiscal years. Neb will also find out what was cut from our request, since we are receiving less than what we applied for. Neb and Margaret have completed everything for the bicycle route signs. They are working on the actual placement with Barbara Michelson and by the end of July or early August the signs should start going up. Paul Kreiling has been asked to come with revised prices for both the colored dots and the pedestal si gns. Neb and Valerie were invited by Supervisor Cochran to attend the mayor's and supervisor's luncheon in Montauk. Valerie has been made chairman of a committee/commission set up by the East End Supervisors Association as a result of a proposal Valerie brought to the June 26 meeting. Valerie said that in addition to the draft action plan she presented, two more things have been suggested for consideration: the addition of high-speed ferries to Orient, the South Fork, and Connecticut; and the transportation needs of local year-round people. [t was also emphasized that the committee must work toward connecting among towns. Valerie will attempt to have monthly meetings of her committee and various planning boards. and will keep supervisors and mayors informed. This is the first time there has been a political commitment to using professional staff. On Friday, July 26, the East End Supervisors Assoc. will meet with the Long Island Railroad. The towns will individually work with the railroad and then meet back together and gauge the progress. Dwayne and Neb will meet about how to set up the National Park Service's consultation period regarding Moore's Woods. It is felt that it is important to involve as many groups as possible including the Village Improvement Committee, the Village Board, the Business Improvement District, and others. A group of 10-12 people will be formed to meet with the Park Service when they come for their first meeting. Neb has prepared a memo about jet skis for Supervisor Cochran. Victor has also prepared a paper. It was suggested that the next meeting be a pot luck supper to welcome new members at celebrate the award of the ISTEA grant. Spouses will be invited. The next meeting will be July 30, 1996 at 6PM at the home of Glynnis Berry in Orient. Respectfully submitted. Margaret H. Brown
