Reaoolication for Grants for Kavak Launch Sites: Former STTC member, Mike Acebo,
has agreed to help STTC apply for grant money for several kayak launch sites. The
application is due on January 15, 1997. The original grant covering improvements to
Sterling Harbor Basin was turned down. The new submission will include Sterling
Harbor and six to ten additional areas, including the three (New Suffolk, Goose Creek
and Cedar Beach) covered by the Sea Trails grant.
Glynnis Berrv's Railroad Plaza Desians Await Aoorooriate Fund Source: Glynnis has
drawn plans for the transportation hub/plazas at the railroad stations in Southold
Town. It was originally hoped that these designs could be brought to life using new
ISTEA funds. The buy-in for the grant was to have been the railroad money already
allocated for rebuilding the two stations. Unfortunately, this money is already pledged
as a match for federal money financing the rebuilding project and cannot be used
twice. Supervisor Cochran has formed a subcommittee to act as a clearinghouse for
grants to fund projects in Southold Town. When the group is up and running, STTC
hopes that it will help find an appropriate fund source for this worthy project with a buy-
in the town can afford.
East End Transoortation Council is selectina issues on which to focus: STTC input is
sought.
Final Trail Marker Desian Acoroved: Paul Kreiling of PC Graphics submitted a final
design and a choice of colors. Several colors were selected and Paul will be asked to
submit a few other choices.
National Park Service Visit Exoected in Januarv: The next STTC meeting will be a
planning session for the January work session. The meeting will be held in Town Hall
on Tuesday, December 17 at 9:30 AM.
The first meeting of 1997 will be on January 6th at 8:30 AM.
Respectfully submitted,
Barbara Michelson
