Present: Mike Acebo, Bob Bayley, Neboysha Brashich, Margaret Brown, Victor Brown, Rich
Caggiano, Barbara Michelson, Valerie Scopaz; Dick Strand, Dunn Engineering Assoc.
The minutes were approved as read.
This special meeting was called to meet with Dunn Engineering Associates to discuss the draft
Scope of Services for the Traffic Study. Mr. Dick Strand of Dunn Engineering was present. The
Committee explained the need for the final SOS to accurately and precisely address the needs of
Southold Town. Each member of the committee present gave input, and Mr. Strand expressed
the willingness of his firm to include all of our concerns. We presented him with a revised,
composite version of the documents that had originally been sent to Dunn. It was emphasized to
Mr. Strand that we will not be satisfied with an "off the shelf" SOS Q[ Final Report from the
Traffic Study. Both must address the unique traffic problems and needs of the North Fork. It
was also made clear that the Town expects to be involved throughout the process. The
committee also stated that the SOS and Final Report must be in "plain English" to the extent
possible, with a minimum of jargon, and that we must be ultimately left with a practical, usable
document that will be a tool for everyday use. Mr. Strand assured us that he would do all he
could to make this so, and would definitely include our latest material in the SOS.
Our next regular meeting will be Wednesday, March 15 at 4PM, Town Hall Conference Room.
