Southold Transportation Committee Southold Town Hall - 4 PM Minutes - June 24, 1994 Present: Mike Acebo, Neboysha Brashich, Bob Bayley, Bob Brown, Christa Brown, Margaret Brown, Victor Brown, Gail Horton, Barbara Michelson, Merle Wiggin This was the first meeting of the expanded transportation committee, and all members were present. The original committee gave an overview and history of the committee's work over the last eighteen months, and a comprehensive packet of information detailing this work was given to each new member. The new date for the Transportation Symposium has been tentatively set for Wednesday, October 12. Neb will contact the railroad to be sure that the date is available. The committee discussed the fact that many details will need to be addressed to make the symposium a success. The committee will review the list of suggested invitees, and will be prepared to make additions and recommendations at the next meeting. The planned traffic study was discussed at some length. We will need to identify five to ten specific issues that need to be addressed by the Traffic Study. We will discuss these at the next meeting. In other business, Mike Acebo said that he has set up a mini-van service at his own expense for boaters who dock at Brewer's Yacht Yard and need transportation into the village for shopping and entertainment. It was suggested that a water taxi would be an ideal transportation link in this context, and he agreed, adding that it would also be helpful for the route to include Dering Harbor on Shelter Island, Picozzi's, and perhaps other stops. Bob and Christa Brown have proposed a mini-bus system that would take people from marinas to vineyards and other points of interest. The committee was very enthusiastic, but the Browns have had limited response from their letter thus far. It was suggested that everyone read the corridor management plan proposal, as per the agenda and information sent by the state, and start writing down ideas to be discussed at the next meeting. Meetings will be Wednesdays at 4PM at Town Hall. The next meeting will be July 6 at 4PM. Respectfully submitted, Margaret H. Brown , .
