Southold Transportation Committee Southold Town Hall - 4 PM Minutes -September 6, 1994 Present: Michael Acebo, Bob Bayley, Neboysha Brashich, Margaret Brown, Victor Brown, Barbara Michelson, Merle Wiggin Neb reported that D..............Engineering would do the traffic study for $3200. Tom Wickham asked if it could be funded from our $50,000 grant. In any case, the $3200 has been put into the Town Budget. The principals of the firm worked for DOT for 15 years and therefore would be knowledgeable about working with the DOT. A report from the New York Metropolitan Transportation Council TIP Executive Summary showed that there are no 1994-1999 targets applicable to Southold Town. Our next meeting will be Tuesday, August 30 at 4 PM in the Town Hall. Tom Wickham received a letter from AAA of New York reporting that Southold has won a pedestrian safety award based on the fact that we have had no pedestrian fatalities -in the last 5 years. We are invited to an awards luncheon in Westbury. We discussed the program and other details for the Transportation Symposium extensively: *Bob Bayley feels the headings are too dry and will try to think of interesting improvements. *We thought of a new phrase - "Southold, a Great Destination" to use in the invitation. *We will revise the invitation and response card and also the agendas. *There will be a rapporteur in each car who will stay with that car for the'~ntire day and take notes on all the discussions. *Supervisor Wickham and Mayor Kapell will give welcoming statements before we depart from Greenport. Tom Wickham will go on the trip at leastas far as Ronkonkoma. *Neb will speak to the LIRR people to find a guest speaker and get a PA system for each car. *Neb and Margaret will work on the invitations and get them ready to send out. *We discussed food. Barbara provided us with a cost sheet (last week) including items she will donate and things that we may get at cost or donated from other sources. * Neb will ask Tom Wickham about cider and apples. *Bob Bayley will talk to Bruce Bollman about doing sandwiches for $4 each and Merle Wiggin will ask the same of the Sterlington Deli. *Mike and Neb can each provide 23-30 cup coffee urns. *Barbara will ask Louisa Hargrave about wine. *Neb will ask if two tables can be set up at the Ronkonkoma Station to serve lunch. *We need tickets for people to get on the train and for lunch. *Maybe call the ride the "Southold Special" Our next meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 4PM, Town Hall Conference Room Respectfully submitted, Margaret Brown ossible ticket: "Southold Special" Transportation Symposium Wednesday.
