Frank Field, Barbara Heaney, Bernie Jacobsen, Barbara Michelson, Melissa Spiro Moore's Woods: Neb reported that he and Carl Beard attended a Greenport Village Board meeting on June 12 to present the final report on Moore's Woods resulting from the meetings with the National Park Service. Neb had prepared two resolutions for their approval, one creating a budgetary line item under the Village Capital Development Budget - Parkland, Beaches & Recreation which would be used to leverage state/federal assistance and pay for consultantships where required; the other resolution would have Greenport requesting that Southold and the Village work together to seek state and federal assistance needed to purchase land located west and south Moore's woods to create a greenway belt. The Village Board asked very few questions and took no action on the resolutions. Neb will meet with Mayor Kapellto ask if he wants a special meeting with the committee. Greenport must decide soon if it plans to move ahead with this project, as $50,000 has been committed to it pending their support. Committee Members: Dwayne Early has resigned from the committee. His letter of resignation was accepted with regret. A replacement will be sought. Sil!ns: Paul Kreiling sent a prototype of the trail head sign he has designed. It is attractive and easy to read. However, it needs more information, induding points of interest. He will work on this. The Bicycle Route signs for the Mattituck loop will be ready today, and will be delivered to Margaret Brown. Scenic Corridor Manal!ement Plan (lSTEA): Neb, Barbara Michelson, Frank Field, Bernie Jacobsen, Bob Brown, Steve Ridler and Valerie Scopaz have all read the two proposals submitted for the Scenic Byways Proposal. They will give their comments and vote (with the exception of Valerie and Steve Ridler) on who should be awarded the contract. The contract must be awarded by June 30. The group will meet Friday, June 27, at 8 AM in the Conference Room to complete this task. East End Transportation Council: The Council met at DOT headquarters in Hauppauge on June 5. In attendance were planners from Albany who explained how they design roads and what inflnences them. The EETC asked that they have input into these plans. Valerie will gather input from the 5 towns. LlRR: Neb and Supervisor Cochran met on the South Fork with other town leaders and two vice presidents of the L1RR to discuss scheduling and travel demand. A travel demand study will be done by the railroad over the summer. This will affect scheduling and service on the East End. The next meeting will be Tuesday, July 8,1997,8 AM at Southold Town Hall.
