REaMD JUL 2 8 \991 Southold Transportation Committee Southold Town Hall July 8,1997 8 AM Southold Town aerk Present: Neboysha Brashich, Glynnis Berry, Bob Brown, Margaret Brown, Victor Brown, Frank Field, Bernie Jacobsen, Valerie Scopaz, Melissa Spiro Moore's Woods: Neb reported on a meeting with Barbara Heaney and Greenport Mayor Dave Kapell. Kapell was very favorable toward the National Park Service plans for Moore's Woods. Neb explained the costing of the trails in three phases: Phase I-A. Our portion - Seaview Trails - $70,000 - B. Construction of trail base east through the park - 40,000 - C. Construction of Monsell Trail - 25,000 Phase 2 - Build the Center, Kiosks, Signs - 90,000 Phase 3 - Boardwalks, viewing platforms, benches - 125,000 All phases $350,000 The meeting was interrupted by a personal emergency and will be continued today at 3PM. Neb will meet with the Town Board today at 9:30 AM to announce our choice offirm to do the Scenic Byways Project. The successful firm is Fernandino. They will be setting up a client steering committee. We must let Neb know by the next meeting if we wish to be included on this steering committee. ' Trailhead Signs: The subcommittee needs to decide on specific details to be put on the signs. The bicycle marker signs are being installed in Mattituck. LlRR: We received a letter from the LlRR inviting us to meetings on Bicycle Policy. Neb, Valerie, Victor and Margaret expressed an interest in attending the one to be held in Hauppague on July 14. Glynnis will try to attend the one in NYC on July 22. A letter from the LIRR including a brochure giving a project status update and answers to questions raised during the ongoing public outreach has been received. Traffic Study: Valerie gave us a "Traffic Count Screenline Counts" plan. We will try to meet with the DOT to refine the sample count locations. EETC: Valerie asked us to give her input on specific traffic concerns for the fivt; towns before the next meeting (this Thursday) of the East End Transportation Council. The NYSDOT will pave Route 25 from Greenport to Southold in 1998. Any changes or concerns in that regard should be identified.
