ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT - PART II
.
Project ImpJcts and Their Maqnitude
Gen~rill In.~'-'3t;,):! iC:~-J.~ C~refully)
In comple~l~g t;.~ form the reviewer should be guided by the question: Have my decisions and determinations
been reasor.~bi~: The reviewer is not expected to be an exoert environmental analyst.
Identifying t~dt ar. effect will be potentially large (column 2) does not mean that it
s;an;f~cc:'lt. Ar:y l~rg~ effect must be evaluated in PART 3 to detennine significance.
eftect in cclu~ 2 simply asks that it be looked at further.
- The Examoles provided are to assist the reviewer by showing types of effects and wherever possible the thresholc
of magnltude that would trigger a response in column 2. The examples are generally apolicable throughout the
State and for ~st situations. But, for any specific project or site other examples and/or lower thresholds
may be more aD~ro~riate for a Potential large Impact rating.
is also necessarily
Ry ident,fyir.g an
- Each project, on each site. in each locality, will vary. Therefore. the examples have been offered as guidance.
They do not constitute an exhaustive list of impacts and thresholds to answer each nuestion.
The number of examples per question does not indicate the importance of each question.
INSTRUCTIONS (Read Carefully)
i!l.. Answer each of the 18 questions in PART 2. Answer ~ if there will be ~ effect.
b. Maybe answers should be considered as ~ answers.
c. If answering Yes to a Question then check the appropriate box (column 1 or 2) to indicate the ootential
size of the irnoact. If impact threshold equal s or exceeds any exampie provided. check column 2. If
impact will occur but threshold is lower than example, check column 1.
d. If reviewer has doubt about the size of the impact ~Qe!1 consider the imoact as r)otentially large and
proceed to PART 3.
e. If a potentially large imoact or effect can be reduced by a change in the project to a less than 1arge
magnitude, olace a Yes in co1ur.m 3. A No response indicates' that such a reduction is not possible.
