(l.e.E.) Raids
The Police of Southold Town do an excellent job of protecting and serving
the people of our area. A large part of their ability to do their difficult and
sometimes dangerous job is gaining and keeping the trust of all the people
they work for and with.
The Latino community is an important part of our life on the North Fork.
When our law enforcement officers work with l.e.E. to conduct raids on the
homes of hard working, productive members of our township we all face
negative consequences.
How will it be possible for our officers to do their job well if a segment of
our neighbors are afraid to call on them? Who among our Latino neighbors
will work with our peace officers when there is a need for information if
there is fear and distrust of our local, "Men in Blue"?
I. C. E. removed people from our community. They hid them from those
who wanted to help them, provide them with proper representation and let
their families know where and how they were. All of us wish to remove
those from our midst that represent a danger to us. We also wish to protect
and support those that help make our community the wonderful place that
we are privileged to share.
We theref re respectively request that our local law enforcement officers
do not s port the activities of l.e.E. hen that support is likely to make
their jo in 0 community Ie ec v . We value all of our neighbors.
