REASON FOR APPEAL
o
~
Continued
.......,
\.
1. STRICT APPLICATION OF THE ORDINANCE would produce practical difficulties or unneces-
sary ~ARDSHIP because : This private right of way is used by eight other
residents on this North east side of Laurel lake. and the road is
in good usable condition.
2. The hardship created h UNIQUE and is,not shored !;ly, 011 prop~rties alike, in the, ill'1mediate
vicinity of this property and in this use district because: This is the only means of access
to the north east side of the lake.
1<
3. The Variance would observe the spirit of the Ordinance and WOULD NOT CHANGE THE
CHARACTER OF THE DISTRICT because: This is primarily a summer home area,
the propose use will be a summer home and the road will be adequate
for the intended use.

Attention: Chas. Raffe
Dear Sirl
Your letter of June 4th RE: Gorman R.O.W. at Laurel
Lake received.
I have contacted the chairman of the Board of Appeals
and he says it will not be necessary for you to appear on
June 12 as long as Mr. Gorman has agreed to fix up the road
way as we discussed it.
The Board will give their approval subject to
tr1mming back limbs & overgrowth and fixing the road bed
and send you their action outlining the necessary work.
Yours truly,

Re: Gorman - Fafinski
Dear Mr. Terry:
I spoke to Mr. Thomas Gorman today about the property at Laurel
Lake. He has taken my recommendations and yours and has agreed
to comply with the conditions of the Zoning Board of Appeals that we
discussed. One condition is the requirement that the bushes and
trees overhanging the roadway be trimmed to a height of approxi-
mately twelve (12) feet, and that the roadway from the woods entrance
up to his property be rough-graded so as to fill in any pot holes and
remove the hump in the middle of the road and generally level the
road bed as it exists.
Would you be kind enough to advise me if it will be necessary for me
to appear at the hearing of June 12, 1969. I would hope that this letter
would be sufficient.
Please contact me as soon as conveniently possible.
Very truly yours,
RAFFE & RAFFE

Dear Mr. Gillispie:
The Mattituck Fire Department and the Mattituck Fire
District inspected the property concerned in your letter of
May 21 with access through the Jarzombek Farm.
The property was found accessable at this time, however,
during inclement weather, heavy rain, or snow, passability
would be questionable.
Sincerely,

Dear Sir:
We have at hand an application to build a new home and
"approval of access" for a lot on the North East side of Laurel
Lake.
The access to this lot is through the Jarzombek farm from
sls Sound Avenue to the Lake.
We have on file plans for the extension of the L.I.
Expressway to Middle Road (4 lane highway) on the northerly
side of the L.I.L.C.O. high tension line. Included in this
right of way will be a "local access road" to accomodate people
living on the north and east side of Laurel Lake.
We are particularly interested in your opinion of the
private right of way - south of the high tension line. Is it
adequate for the use of your fire trucks and ...rg'8llCY vehicle.? ' I
Your reply will be most helpful.
Yours truly,
R~ U1 jk~~.tiq.0-B
