The following action was taken by the Southold Town Board of
Trustee at a special meeting held on Friday, January 10, 1997 at
3:30;
WHEREAS, the Southold Town Board of Trustees are aware of the
condition of the scallop population,
W~EREAS, the Southold Town Board of Trustees understand, the
economic impact of a good scallop harvest on the local econom!F.
WHEREAS, the Southold Town Board of Trustees have the utmest
concern to the future of the scallop in Town Waters,
WHEREAS, the scallops in question are a public resource which
grow in public waters and on public lands.
THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED that the Southold Town Board of Trustees close the
scallop season until the fall of 1997, effective immediately.
