HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-05/10/2007 .~ "....tL-,.'-n Minutes of the regular monthly meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Mattituck Park District held on May 10, 2007, in the office of the Veterans Park Building at 11280 Peconic Bay Boulevard, Mattituck, New York, with Commissioners Gerard Goehringer, Chairman, Commissioners Jerome Zuhoski and Tom McCaffery present, together with John Cushman, Treasurer, Madeline Haas, Secretary, Gail Faircloth, Clerk, Edward Grohoski, Maintenance, Mr. Williamson, a volunteer work, Mr. Pfaff, and Mr. Gato, soccer people, Barbara Droskoski, Life Guard's Supervisor, Mr. and Mrs. McGreevy and Mr. and Mrs. Catullo, taxpayers, Mr. Polistena, Volley ball coach, Gail Wickham, Park attorney. Meeting called to order at 7:05 p.m. On motion of Tom McCaffery, seconded by Jerome Zuhoski and carried, the minutes of the March 8th, 2007 and April 12, 2007 meetings were approved as presented. Nextel Communications 245.45 400.00 378.64 10,300.90 Frank Polistina asked if he could put up a shed for his volleyball equipment. Commissioners gave him their consent. Ed Grohoski to put in a water bib at the Breakwater site to get water for the volley ball site. Frank Polistina is going to let the Commissioners know if he is going to have a non-league use on the off nights. He also said that his tournment dates are August 18, 2007 with a rain date of August 19,2007. The Commissioners asked the secretary to write a letter to Mr. Ryan and Mr. Polistina telling them that their needs and wants and dates must be in by no earlier than February 1 st, 2008. This was done because Mr. Polistina complained that Mr. Ryan gets all he wants and things he needs and he gets the leftovers. Mr. and Mrs. McGreevy were in to speak with the Commissioners about the dredging of the channel and wanted to know what the Commissioners thoughts on it were. Commissioners said the dredging was in the hands of the Corp of Engineers. Mr. and Mrs. Catulla were in about the piping plovers and how hard Mr. Catulla works to get things set up for the birds and people from the volleyball leagues run in to get the balls that go out of range. He asked if some type of fencing could be put up to avoid this problem. Mrs. Droskoski came to clear up her needs for the life guards at both the Bay and the Sound. On motion of or Jerome Zuhoski, seconded by Gerard Goehringer and carried the Park is to buy two boards for the life guards. Mrs. Droskoski said that the lifeguards should have special T-shirts so they stand out for the beach people to see where and who they were. Commissioners advised her to order white T-shirts with big red letters that say LIFE GUARD nn the back of them so they could be identified. A letter received from Anthony Ellis tendering his resignation from the Mattituck Park District as of April 29, 2007. On motion of Jerome Zuhoski, seconded by Tom McCaffery the following resolution was adopted. RESOLVED that the Mattituck Park District Commissioners accepted Anthony Ellis' letter of resigning his job with the Mattituck Park District as of April 29, 2007. The chair that the Lioness' wanted to put at the Veterans Memorial Park site in memory of a Lioness who had passed away was discussed.. 2 chairs are being ordered. One chair for the Lioness's and I chair for the Park District. The Park District's chair is going to go to the Breakwater Site. Three porta potties are to be gotten for the Veterans Park site: One for Women, one for Men, and one for handicapped.
