DIRECTVENT HOT WATER BOilER
Your Cost Saving
Alternative
If you're in the market for a
new home heating system,look
no further. Whether you're
replacing an old inefficient worn-
out boiler or thinking about
converting from expensive electric
heat or a heat pump, the
Burnham direct vent SpirjtTM
boiler is the right heating invest-
ment for your home.
What is Direct Vent?
Direct vent is the term for a
venting process used by
appliances to draw combustion air
from outside the home and then
vent products of combustion
directly to the outside without
using a chimney.
The direct vent Spirit is
designed to vent horizontally
through the wall or vertically
through the roof using Burnham's
AL29-4C"' stainless steel vent
system eliminating the need for a
chimney and allowing for tight
installations.

5 Reasons You Should
Have the Spirit Direct
Vent Boiler In Your Home
1. No Chimney Needed. If your
home is one of millions without a
chimney or with an improperly
functioning chimney, Burnham's
Spirit can save you thousands in
installation costs by eliminating
the need for a chimney.
2. High Efficiency, Low
~ntenance. TheSpirtt
boiler with an Annual Fuel
Utilization Efficiency
(AFUE) of up to 84%, can
save you hundreds of
dollars on your annual
heating biII while avoiding
the high cost ofinstallation
and maintenance associ-
ated with complex ultra-
high efficiency boilers.
3. Designed for TodaY's Energy
EfficientHomes. Newerhomes
that are constructed extremely
tight can pose problems for
conventional boilers. Without
adequate air for combustion,
operational and safety problems
will occur. The Spirit boiler
eliminates this possibility by
drawing its combustion air from
the outside.
.
provides for the Spirit. You see,
medium and high efficiency
boilers, like the Spirit, produce
small levels of condensation as a
combustion by-product. This
condensation can actually eat
4. Installation Flexibility. While
conventional boilers must be
located near the chimney, the
direct vent Spirit boiler, with its
combustible floor certified base,
can be installed almost anywhere
inside the house including:
basements, closets, utiIityrooms,
and even garages. Plus, sidewall
and vertical venting options give
your Burnham Home Heating

installation flexibility.
5. Safe, Durable Vent System.

through galvanized steel or plastic
vent systems. The Spirit boiler
and its AL29-4C~ stainless steel
vent system eliminate this possi-
bility and are made to last a
lifetime.
Consider The Complete
Spirit System
A high efficiency boiler is just
the beginning of efficient home
heating. Burnham offers
homeowners a complete home
heating comfort system.
Improve upon your new boiler's
efficiency with Burnham's
complete line of system compo-
nents including: the Alliance

NOTES:
1. First hour ratings are based on :
. 1150F or 1400F domestic outlet water supply temperature
. 500F domestic inlet water temperature
. 2000F boiler water supply temperature to the water heater
. Flow rates as shown at bottom of table
. Assumes approximately 80% usable storage
2. If the net BTUIHr. rating of the boiler is close to the space heating load - or if there is
an unusually large demand for domestic water - increased boiler capacity and/or
domestic priority may be required.
3. For special applications such as Multiple Boiler Systems, large domestic water loads,
etc., refer to the ASHRAE Fixture Count Method or contact a Weil-McLain
Representative.
