Present were H . Lee Ferguson. Jr.. Alfred R. Grebe. L. S. Baldwin. Lewis O. Lamb. Polly Edmonds and W. C. Sinclair. Mgr.-Sec. Minutes of the meet- ing held July 5. 1960 were read and approved as read. Motion by Baldwin and Edmonds that vouchers #8301 through #8323 inclusive in the amount of $15.287.97 representing the outstanding obligations of the Ferry District far the month of July 1960 be paid. Motion unanimously carried. Chairman Ferguson abstained from voting on the F. I. Farms Inc.. the F. I. Electric Corp. and the F. I. Telepone Corp. invoices. The Manager rep~ted that the A. C. Construction Co. invoice in the amount of $4630.80 presented and approved for payment in the month of June 19~0 had been disallowed by the Town Board due to the fact that the Town Board had not originally acted on approving this Contract. He stated that the necessary information had been forwarded to the Supervisor on this and that this obligation was being resubmitted with the month of July bills. The Board directed the nanager to have Mr. Tuthill forward this check to the Ferry District to hold until such time as the rocks and boulders have been removed from the airport by the A. C. Construction Co. The ~anager reported that as regards a sweeper for the air~ort nunways. Mr. Harold Price had located two in Long Island for sale; one at '1500 and another for $1100. The ~anager stated he had located one in Hartford for $475.00. General discussion on this. The Board authorized the manager to purchase the sweeper for $475.00 after inspecting same together with a member of the Board of Commissioners, The ~anager reported that the Snow Nabstedt Gear on the starboard engine of the Mystic Isle had broken down and that mechanics from the Snow NabstedtGear Corp. at Hamden Conn. had checked it in New London and it was to be taken to their plant for repairs. The Manager stated that he had talked with the insurance company regarding recovery under our Hull & Machinery Policy for this damaged gear. The Manager reported that he has arranged a charter of the Mystio Isle. August 13. 1960, said charter to be charged at the rate of $100.00 per hour plus whatever costs of the Captain are involved. Motion by Grebe and Lamb that the !'ianager be authorized to proceed with the charter committment. Motion unanimously carried. The Manager requested information from the Board as to what the Board oontemplates doing in 1961 which should be included in the budget. Some items discussed were as follows: Allowance for ~0llio~Rl of the Service Club Building. A road to be con",t:""ctcd into the airport parking area. Purchase price of the West Harbor property. Comm. Edmonds feels that this item should be tabled for another year. Cemm. Baldwin feels we should provide money for hull repairs on the Mystic Isle. . General discussion then ensued on the West Harbor proposal. Chairman Ferguson reported that an agreement has been worked up by attorneys of the owner which will be sent to the Town At.l;ol'ney for his opinion, The J:llanager reported on a meeting with representativr's of our insurance brokers. The insurance people recommend raising our collision insurance from $250,000 with an excess of one million dollars and our P & I insurance to have an excess up to two million dollars, An actual quotation on the cost of this has not been received as yet but it will be in the neighborhood of $475.00, The Board of Commissioners with he exception of Comma Bladwin, who voted negat'ively. directed the hanagflr to arrange this. 10 2, 3, 4. , . More information is to be obtained on this. He reported that a fire extinguisher. a C02' 26 lb. portable on wh~els had been purchased for the airport. The Manager then requested that something be done to provide a better office facility. General discussion then ensued on this. It was decided that the Board will make an inspection of buildings with an idea of relocating the present office. General discussion then ensued on automobile reservations from New London, Conn. The Board directed the !'!anager to check with Griswold and Company regarding how to cover people under the Compensation Policy who p8rform various miscellaneous jobs for the District without their being considered employees.
