LWRP ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING JULY 12, 1990
MEMBERS PRESENT: STEVE LATSON, BILL LIEBLEIN,
DON STANTON, MARK McDONALD (Planning Board)
LARRY TUTHILL, (resident)
Members reviewed policies that were revised at the June 19th
meeting. It was decided to defer Policy #23 until the historian
Tony Booth could come to a meeting and discuss it with the
members.
Discussion on policies #26, 27 and 29. Members feel that Policy
#26 does not reflect waterfront revitalization. It was decided
to eliminate the State's policy and rewrite our own policy. Also
policies 27 and 29 to be rewritten. Don Stanton volunteered to
rewrite these three policies.
Committee members discussed the article in the Suffolk Times
about the sale of sound front property (67 Steps) and in the
Orient-By-The Sea subdivision. Steve Latson to write a letter to
the Supervisor and Town Board members requesting the Town not to
sell these properties.
Next meeting scheduled for Thursday August 2, 1990.

Dear Supervisor Harris & Town Board Members:
During the Local Waterfront Revitalization Advisory
Committee meeting of July 12, 1990, we discussed the question of
the Town selling its waterfront property at "67 Steps" and in
"Orient-by-the-Sea" subdivision.
Since this advisory committee is actively reviewing the
States 44 Policies concerning Waterfront Revitalizations and
their implication in Southo1d Town, we are concerned that the
sale of these properties are being considered. Policy #19
specifically relates to the retention and even acquisition of
new property, and it certainly appears that the sale of these
properties is contrary to policy 19.
Therefore, we request that the town not sell these parcels.
Very truly yours,
LOCAL WATERFRONT REVITALIZATION
ADVISORY COMMITTEE
