Richard Wilton passed out a memo to the committee members listing several subjects that he would like to see addressed which the committee discussed. 1. Map existing shellfish beds by type and estimated quanity. Scott advised that he had the map and was working on it. Steve stated that estimated quanity is one of the things that is variable. One year it will be great, next year nothing, and the next year great again if you are talking about scallops. Claims tend to be more consistent. Scott advised that he has something written up in map form and he has ranked them in terms of productivity. 2. Map existing breeding grounds of finfish by type and quantity. Scott advised that he has not done the finfish. There is nothing in our outline where finfish breed. Steve stated that they breed in the creeks. The species that spore here are the weakfish, flounder, mackrel and squid. If the bay is healthy, then those species should be okay. 3. Identify all vacant land on the bays and sound and suggest locations for future motels, resorts, and/or marinas. Everybody agreed that motel and resort are the same and that marinas are separate. Scott stated that there wasn't any more land available for marinas right now. Steve asked Richard if he would be willing to come up with a list of specific properties on the sound for resorts and motels, and then Scott would map it out. Don stated that Greenport has the ideal waterfront for marinas. Everything is there. Recommend that Greenport revitalize their marinas. .~ CAC LWRP June 27, 1989 4. Rank by importance the creeks in the town. Valerie suggested perhaps the committee could set some kind of ranking system as to which creeks we ~hould concentrate, on to maintain their integrity. Steve stated that all creeks are the same. Jocky, Town, Goose and Corey are all equal. Hallocks is bigger, so there is more in it. The real reason that shell fish are at a low point now is because of the brown tide. The main problem is major run-off problems. They are all equally productive creeks. 5. Identify the vacant land adjoining or near existing marinas. This information will be helpful in determing the expansion potential of existing marinas. This was previously discussed with reference to #3. 6. Locate on a map existing municipal water and sewage lines. Scott has mapped Greenport's water and sewage systems. Valerie to give him information on Captain Kids water system so that it can be mapped. 7. Identify and map existing mooring locations and identify areas suitable for future moorings. Valerie stated that the trustees were to do that. done, but they are working on it. It has not been Valerie asked the committee how they felt about having an open meeting to the general public just for them to give their concerns. No answers from the committee to be given. The committee decided it would be better to ask the public for written statements if they have any concerns about the waterfront. This will be advertised 14 days prior to the next meeting which will be on July 25th. Valerie advised that by the first week in August things have to be pretty well set.
