Valerie Scopaz,
Steve Latson,
Peter
Absent: Dick Wilton and Frank Bear
Steve spoke with Dave Marquardt (AMI): representatives of AMI will
be invited to our next meeting.
Valerie met with Szepatowski Associates. The draft copy should be
here around 3/1/88. They will not be paid until the draft is
prepared and delivered. Valerie has a meeting scheduled with
Peter Walsh, but may postpone it until the draft arrives. She
will be asking if there is additional State money to be had to
cover the re-write.
Valerie will try to get the working maps of the Inlet from
the County. The map was done for the Mattituck Creek Watershed
Study Phase I, 1981. Phase 2, apparently, was never done by
either the Town or County.
Next Meeting will be 3/8/88.
Individual comments on the Sub-areas are on the attached pages.

J. Development
question was posed whether we should encourage Town
enact code or regulations establishing setbacks from water,
wetlands, bluffs, or require reasonable building envelopes
be established on all parcels proposed for approval
building envelopes should be large enough to accommodate
typical construction without requiring ZBA action or
approvals

setback from bluff
there is no present definition of bluff or edge of bluff
for new waterfront subdivisions, question was posed should
we encourage park & playground use of beach (one example
is Honeysuckle Hills, Mattituck)
if so, lot line should be set at base of bluff, so that
entire bluff face is responsibility of the lot Owner
require contour lines on all subdivision plans
require true bluff line on all Sound front subdivision maps
suggestion we consider limiting stairs to beach, especially
on the bluffs - perhaps J per subdivision, or I per two or
more lots

3. Recreation
access to Sound & Inlet is limited, especially to general
Town residents (non-Park district residents) & visitors
3 types of access to be considered:
a) town residents
b) non-town residents
c) commercial users
do we encourage or permit baymen in residential areas, or
do we provide docks/ramps for baymen
should we recommend Town Park District instead of individual
districts
recommend Town boat ramp next to the Mattituck Park
ramp on the Inlet, and a ramp at mouth of the Inlet
location for commercial boat use)
District
(good
Federal Mooring area on Inlet- promote & upgrade??, encourage
use?provide access? dingy dock at Park Dist or Town ramp?
Marinas-pumpout facilities, upland shower/toilet facilites
to discourage use of boat facilities while at docks
recommend acquisition of beach front bluff areas for public
access, overlook area, scenic views
suggested areas, Firing Point, end of Duck Pond Rd., Macari
property to west of Inlet
