(
-------
/Q~J
~~~/<-
CAC Local
2/2/88
Attending: Valerie Scopaz, Steve Latson, Peter Kreu, Frank Bear,
Don Stanton
Fisher's Island - Judge Edwards will try to get input from islanders
to include in our report, and will act as liason.
General questions posed during the discussion:
1) What is Town policy regarding development and increased
population?
2) Is there an inventory of properties in the Town?
Steve expressed his opinion that our job is to ensure access to and
use of the waterfront for present and future residents.
Valerie reported that she sent a copy of our sub-area boundaries
to the State for there critique, and has had no response.
Our next meeting will be 2/23/88.
Comments for the specific sub-areas are-on attached sheets.
General Comments:
Consensus is we should ask Szepatowski Associates to update the
Mattituck Inlet Report and the Suffolk County Mattituck"Creek Watershed
Study. Valerie said she would request the working maps used in the study.
Perusal indicates in 1981 2,000 acres of upland were defined as being
in the watershed study area. Of the 2,000 acres, 345 were in Ag District,
211 in vacant lots, 659 were available for subdivision. A total of 1,200+
a~res were subject to development, and 784 seasonal and year round'resi-
dences were in the watershed area.
1. Development
No definitive answer to question "are wetlands included in
computations for density?" Consensus seemed to indicate we would
like to see a policy statement and/or code on this issue, specifical
excluding wetlands from computations within the boundary area
On-site containment of runoff for both residential and commercial
uses~ a minimum of ~'I in 24 hrs.
adopt code requiring location 'of cesspools in sensitive areas
with perhaps a 150' setback from water/wetl~nds, and a contained
septic system within 100' of water/wetlands
explore alternative cesspool systems
Known existing problems be s~rveyed, and owners be..encouraged to
correct. Perhaps help in form of low interest loans could be ~ffere'
to owners.
Encourage County enfOrcement of Town codes and Regulations.
