Dear Mr. Verity:
It is our understanding that your department is concerned that the sanitary system approved by the
Suffolk County Department of Health Services for office and storage use may be undersized for a
residential use.
The sanitary system approved by the Suffolk County Department of Health Services (SCDHS),
for office and storage use, is equal in leaching capacity to a standard system for a residence
having up to four bedrooms. The 1,200 gallon septic tank that will be installed has a capacity of
200 gallons greater than that of a standard residential septic tank. As a condition of approval, the
SCDHS is requiring Belvedere Property Management to install the proposed 50% expansion
pools, resulting in a system 1.5 times greater than what is normally required for residential use.

I am writing to confirm that the sanitary system that was approved by this office for the office use
at the above referenced location meets the standards of the Department for a 3 bedroom
residence.
Due to the fact that the plans for the sanitary system will not require revision, the Department
will process the change of use to residential after the construction is complete. While we have
no objection to your issuance of a building permit for this project, please refrain from issuing a
C.O. until such time that our office issues a final "green stamp" approval for the residence.
