This application must be filled in by typewriter or ink and submitted to the Building Department with the following:
A. For new building or new use:
I. Final survey of property with accurate location of all buildings, property lines, streets, and unusual natural or
topographic features.
2. Final Approval from Health Dept. of water supply and sewerage -disposal (S-9 form).
3. Approval of electrical installation from Board of Fire Underwriters.
4. Sworn statement from plumber certifying that the solder used in system contains less than 2/10 of 1 % lead.
.5. Commercial building, industrial building, multiple residences and similar buildings and installations, a certificate
of Code Compliance from architect or engineer responsible for the building.
6. Submit Planning Board Approval of completed site plan requirements.
B. For existing buildings (prior to April 9, 1957) non -conforming uses, or buildings and "pre-existing" land uses:
L Accurate survey of property showing all property lines, streets, building and unusual natural or topographic
features.
2. A properly completed application and consent to inspect signed by the applicant. If a Certificate of Occupancy is
denied, the Building Inspector shall state the reasons therefor in writing to the applicant.

a. This application MUST be completely filled in by typewriter or in ink and submitted to the Building Inspector with 4
sets of plans, accurate plot plan to scale. Fee according to schedule.
b. Plot plan showing location of lot and of buildings on premises, relationship to adjoining premises or public streets or
areas, and waterways.
c. The work covered by this application may not be commenced before issuance of Building Permit.
d. Upon approval of this application, the Building Inspector will issue a Building Permit to the applicant. Such a permit
shall be kept on the premises available for inspection throughout the work.
1 e. No building shall be occupied or used in whole or in part for any purpose what so ever until the Building Inspector
issues a Certificate of Occupancy.
f. Every building permit shall expire if the work authorized has not commenced within 12 months after the date of
issuance or has not been completed within 18 months from such date. If no zoning amendments or other regulations affecting the
property have been enacted in the interim, the Building Inspector may authorize, in writing, the extension of the permit for an
addition six months. Thereafter, a new permit shall be required.

Building Zone Ordinance of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, and other applicable Laws, Ordinances or

GENERAL CONSTRUCTION NOTES
1 The information on this set of construction documents is to relate basic design
intent and framing details. They are Intended as a construction aid, not a substitute
for generally accepted good building practice and compliance with current New York
state building codes. The general contractor is responsible for providing standard
construction details and procedures to ensure a professionally finished, structurally
sound, and weatherproof completed product.
2. General Contractor to coordinate all sub contractors, scheduling of work, and
interaction between trades.
3. The general contractor is responsible for ensuring that all work and construction
meets or exceeds current federal, stale, and local codes, ordinances and regulations,
etc. These codes are to be considered as part of the specifications for this building
and should be adhered to even if they are in variance with the plan.

GENERAL FOUNDATION NOTES
1. General contractor to review plans, elevations, and details to determine intended
heights of finished floor(s) above typical grade.
2. All footings to teat on undisturbed soil.
3. Provide ''W expanslon joint material between all concrete slabs and abutting
concrete or masonry walls occurring In exterior or unheated interior areas.
4. Concrete on 4" sand or gravel fill minimum, with 6x6 -10/ 10 wire mesh reinforcing.
Interior slabs to be placed on 6 mil. stabilized polyethylene vapor barrier.
5. Provide crawl space ventilation per local code requirements.
6. General contractor to Install cop-r-tex (or copper) sheet metal termite shields
between all wood surfaces that are exposed to concrete or masonry surfaces.
7 Dampproof exterior of foundation with a bituminous coafing as per code and soil
conditions.
GENERAL FLOOR PLAN NOTES
1. Dimensions shall take precedent over scale drawings (do not scale drawings)
2. All interior walls to be covered with h" gypsum board with metal comer reinforcing.
Tape, float, and sand (3 coats).
3. Walls common to garage and house to have a layer of 518", fire rated gypsum board
at garage side with 5'-0" return on adjacent walls and ceiling. Manufactured lumber
requires 2 layers of 5/8", fire rated gypsum board.
4. All bath and toilet area walls and ceilings adjacent to wail areas to have water
resistant gypsum board, or wall the set on wonderboard or equal.

Fasteners and Connectors for Wood Frame Construction
1 A continuous load path between footings, foundations walls, floors, studs and roof
framing shall be provided
2. Approved connectors, anchors and other fastening devices not included in the
Standard Building Code, Table 2306.1 shall be installed in accordance with
manufacturers recommendations.
3 Metal plates, Connectors, screws, bolts, and nails exposed directly to the weather or
subject to salt corrosion In costal areas, shall be stainless steel or hot dipped
galvanized
4. Where windows and doors Interrupt wood structural panel sheathing and siding,
framing anchors or Connectors shall be provided at the top and bottom of cripple
studs, header studs, and at least one stud at each side of opening.
5. Ridge straps shall be attached to each pair of opposing rafters except where collar
ties of 1 x6 or 2x4 lumber is located in upper third of attic space and attach to each pair
of rafters.
6. Uplift connectors shall be provided at each rafter bearing.
7. Floor to floor hold-downs to be provided every 48, and every 16" within 4' of exterior
comers.
Sill Plate to Foundation Anchorage: Sill plate shall be anchored to the foundation
Ih anchor bolts having a min. bolt diameter of 5/8" and 3" x 3" x 1/8" washers. A
mmum of one anchor bolt shall be provided within 6 to 12 inches of each end of
ch plate. Anchor bolts shall have a minimum embedment of 7 inches in concrete/
Isonry foundations. Anchor bolts shall be located Within 12 inches of comers and at
acing not exceeding 4 feel on center.
