at a meeting of the Zoning Board of Appeals on Thursday, May 11, 1961 the appeal
was considered and the action indicated below was taken on your
( ) Request for variance due to lack of access to property
(X) Request for a special exception under the Zoning Ordinance
( ) Request for a variance to the Zoning Ordinance
1. SPECIAL EXCEPTION. By resolution of the Board it was determined that a special exception
(X) be granted ( ) be denied pursuant to Article....I==.... Section ....300 , Subsection .,,11
paragraph ................ of the Zoning Ordinance, and the decision of the Building Inspector ( X
be reversed ( ) be confirmed because the Board finds that the public convenience
and welfare and justice will be served and the legally established or
permitted use of the neighborhood property will not be substantially
or permanently injured and the spirit of the Ordinance will be observed,
therefore it was RESOLVED that Frederick C. Bernhardt, a/c Bernhardt' s
Shore Motel, Depot Lane, Cutchogue, New York, be granted permission to
erect directional sign on the property of John P. Krupski, Oregon Road
and Depot Lane, Cutchogue, New York. Sign size shall not exceed 50 sq.
ft. in area and exterior dimensions shall be no greater than 6 ft. 6 in.
in height by 12 ft. 6 in. in length, shall be located at the northwest
corner of intersection of Oregon Road and Depot Lane and Duck Point Road,
8 ft. from the property line. This is a test well location. This sign
shall be at least 4 ft. above the ground level and upper edge no higher
than 15 ft. 6 in, from the ground level. This is an arrow sign with
the words "Bernhardt's Motel. " This sign is subject to the same
regulations and controls which affect non-conform g signs.
2. VARIANCE. By resolution of the Board it was determined that
(a) Strict application of the Ordinance (would) (would not) produce undue hardship because
(b) The hardship created (is) (is not) unique and (would) (would not) be shared by all properties
alike in the immediate vicinity of this property and in the some use district because
(c) The variance (does) (does not) observe the spirit of the Ordinance and (would) (would not)
change the character of the district because

and that the previous decisions of the Building Inspector ( ) be confirmed ( ) be reversed.

Inspector.
b. Plot plan showing location of lot and of buildings on premises, relationship to adjoining premises or public streets
or areas, and giving a detailed description of layout of property must be drawn an the diagram which is part of this location.
c. The work cov,ered by this application may not be com menced before issuance of Building Permit.
d. Upon approval of this application, the Building Inspector will issue a Building Permit to the applicant. Such
permit sholl be kept an the premises available for inspection thraughout the progress of the work,
e. No building shall be occupied or used in whole or in part for any purpose whatever until a Certificat,e of Occupancy
shall have been granted by the Building Inspector.

Gentlemen:
Recently I purchased a place known as "Duckpoint
Motel" in Cutchogue, Long Island and will take it over
shortly under the name of "Bernhardt's Shore Motel &
Restaurant" on the Duck Pown"\) of Cutchogue.
Due to the fact that the Motel is far away from
towns and roads, I will need about twelve (12) signs so
that people will be able to find their way.
Enclosed is a map indicating where these signs might
be placed. They will be professionally painted.
I am submitting this for your approval. If you have
any ideas or suggestions, I would be pleased to make an
