HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/01/2006 TOWN OF SOUTHOLD ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMITTEE MINUTES June 1, 2006 3:30 p.m. Town Hall Meeting Hall Present were: Chairman Sanford Hanauer, members Herbert Ernest, Ronald McGreevy, Howard Meinke, Nicholas Planamento, Ural Talgat, Joseph “Skip” Lee, Elizabeth Thompson, Planning Board Chair Jerilyn Woodhouse, Senior Site Plan Reviewer Bruno Semon, Senior Planner Amy Ford, ARC Secretary Linda Randolph, and project representatives. Introductions of new members J. Lee and E. Thompson were made. Nick Planamento initiated discussion regarding how to address alterations on historical buildings. The Committee would like to include the Landmark Preservation and Historical Society in the process. Chairman Hanauer voiced that the ARC would like to preview applications in order to expedite work sessions. Ural suggested that plans be submitted electronically in advance to individual members. The feasibility of this was discussed (image files, CAD drawings, PDF if possible). Bruno volunteered to add this request to the SP application checklist or the ARC checklist. A 3:30 work session and 4:00 committee meeting schedule was proposed and discussed. The minutes of the May 4, 2006 meeting were accepted with changes/additions noted. June 1 letter (attached) from Bill Goggins was discussed. The ARC will ask him to explain the reason for his disagreement with their recommendation regarding the south roofline structure. It was discussed and resolved to request a Landmark Preservation liaison to attend ARC meetings and contribute when appropriate. Copies of the May 5 “Retail Building Design Requirements for General Business & Hamlet Business Zoning Districts” were distributed to the membership. R. McGreevy submitted minutes of May 11 Mattituck Stakeholders Meeting. ARC discussed and resolved to request a directive from Town Board as to whether they would like ARC to comment to them regarding residential zoning code changes. ARC Meeting Minutes Page Two June 1, 2006 Revisited Applications: Orient Fire District Telecom SCTM: 1000-18-5-13.8 Recommended: A minimum of 2 species of deciduous street/shade trees (e.g. maple, elm, oak, linden, zelkova) of 4” caliper at 30’ spacing along Tabor Road. Mullen Motors SCTM: 1000-62-3-22.5 Basic massing of buildings accepted contingent upon windows & doors. Proposed landscaping is OK. More info requested regarding: lighting, catalog cuts, building texture, seams & materials. LaPanache Hair Design SCTM: 1000-60-2-7.1 More info requested: at least 2 photos of front of property; size and height of sign, colors of sign and pole. Sign design is OK.
