Dear Mr. Verity ,
Pursuant to previous discussions with your office and my client, I have reviewed the Barn
constructed at The Burn's residence as noted above. We are the Architect of record for this
project.
As such the framing was changed as such:
2 LVL's were used in lieu of three and the rafters were placed 16" O.c. in lieu of 12" .
These changes are approved by this office and meet the code.
Should you have any questions on the above or status of the project, kindly contact me directly.
We would ask at this point that you issue the certificate of occupancy for this horse barn .

U = Connector uplift load.
L = Connector lateral load (perpendicular to the wall).
S = Connector shear load (parallel to the wall).
* Anchorage required to resist lateral loads shall be determined in the foundation design per Section 1. 1.4.
I Tabulated uplift requirements assume a roof/ceiling deadload of 10 psf (2/3 x 15 pst).
2 Tabulated uplift and lateral connection requirements shall he permitted to be multiplied by 0.70 and 0.85, respectively, for framing not
located within 8 feet of building comers.
J Tabulated shear capacity requirements assume a wal] shear capacity of 421 plf (walls sheathed with 7/16"structural sheathing attached with
8d nails spaced 6" at perimeter edges and 12" at intermediate supports). For other wall shear capacities the required shear capacity of the
connection shall be increased.

, Nailing requirements shall be permitted to be reduced 25% ifnails are clinched.
, Heeljoint connections are not required when the ridge is supported by a loadbearing wall, header or ridge beam.
, When intermediate support of the rafter is provided by venical struts or purlins to a badbearing wal~ the tabulated heel joint
connection requirements shall be permitted to be reduced proportionally to the reduction in span.
. Equivalent nailing patterns are required for ceiling joist to ceiling joist lap splices.
5 Tabulated heel joint connection requirements assume ceiling joists or rafterties are located at the oottom of the attic space.
When ceiling joists or rafter ties are located higher in the attic space; the tabulated heel joint connection requirements shall be
increased by the fdlowing factors:
