We are writing regarding your June 30, 2004 request to add the West Lake entrance and
portion of West Lake to the list the County will be dredging.
The area of West Lake has no public access. This is the reason that it is not recommended
to the County to be dredged. Little Creek has public access_

Dear Sir.
As you know, permits have been issued to the West Lake Association for the dredging of the
entrance channel and a small portion of West Lake. We request that the Trustees add this project
to the list of those which are recommended for dredging by the County.
An examination of the tax map shows that there are 21 private properties fronting on Little Creek,
which has been dredged by the county on more than one occasion. There are 19 private properties
fronting on West Lake, and so it is not unreasonable to think that dredging this Trustee-owned
underwater land should receive the same consideration.

Dear Mr. Fitzgerald:
The Board of Town Trustees ok the following action during a Regular Meeting, held on
January 22,2003 regarding e above matter.
WHEREAS, Proper-T P/"mit Services on behalf of West Lake Association applied to the
Southold Town Truste~ for a permit under the provisions of the Wetland Ordinance of the Town
of South old, applicatiln dated December 30th 2002
WHEREAS, said <ySplication was referred to the Southold Town Conservation Advisory Council
for their findings)lld recommendations, and

WHEREAS, ;r'Public Hearing was held by the Town Trustees with respect to said application on
January 22, 2003 at which time all interested persons were given an opportunity to be heard, and,
WHEREAS, the Board members have personally viewed and are familiar with the premises in
question and the surrounding area, and,
WHEREAS, the Board has considered all the testimony and documentation submitted
conceming this application, and,
WHEREAS, the structure complies with the standard set forth in Chapter 97-18 of the Southold
Town Code.

WHEREAS, the Board has determined that the project as proposed will not affect the health,
Safety ,md general welfare of the people of the town.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT,
RESOLVED, that the Board of Trustees approved the application of West L Association for s
Wetland Permit to dredge the entrance charmel and adjoining portions of est Lake to maximum
3 feet below average low water - place a total of approximately 700 c ic yards of dredge spoil
on indicated sites - maintenance dredge to same conditions, as ne sary, a maximum of three
additional times during the next ten years with the condition th rs. Greenfield's property not
be used for conducting operations or storing materials - ti imit on the work project from the
beginning operations to be completed within sixty days i uding the removal ofthe GEO tubes
- post a bond to show proof of insurance to protect th roperty owners must be submitted
before permit will be released - three inspections e to be conducted - before operations
begins -- during operations and once operations e completed.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that thi uetermination should not be considered a determination
made for any other Department or A ncy, which may also have an application pending for the
same or similar project. ~
Fee must be paid, if applicabl and permit issued within six months of the date of this
notification.
