1. STRICT APPLICATION OF THE ORDINANCE would produce UNDUE HARDSHIP because
Property was purchased in 1955 with intention to build dwellin§s
as sho%cn on attached map. Due to the shaoe of the property an the slope
of property the engineer feels that the l~yout as shown ia the best
possible use of the land, and it conforms as closly as possible to the
requirements of the zonin~ ordinance.
2. The hardship createdis UNIQUE andisnotshored by all properties alike in the immediate
vicinityofthispr~ertyandinthisuse district ~cause: This area is well built up
with the exception of the "B" zone district on opposite side of 015
harbor road.
3. The Variance would observe the spirit of the Ordinance and WOULD NOT CHANGE THE

d. Upon approval of this application, the Building Inspector will issue a Building Permit to the applicant. Such

shall have been granted by the Building Inspector.

Dear Mr. Terry:
It has been brought to our attention that our neighbor,
Mr. Whelan, of Old Harbor Lane, New Suffolk has requested a zoning
variance to permit him to build a number of bungalows on his property
at the foot of the street.
We own our all year round house on Old Harbor Lane
where we expect to live permanently following our retirement from
business in the near future. We have recently purchased an additional
lot on this street where we plan to build in accordance with zoning
regulations. We should like to point out that this is a street of attractive
year round houses all occupied by the property owners.
We have always stood for zoning which we believe is
an important protection at a time when Long Island is being overrun with
10" cost housing developments. We believe that Old Harbor Lane is the
very type of residential area the zoning laws were meant to protect and
that a variance in this case would defeat the purpose of the la".
We hope that you agree and we request that you bring
this letter to the attention of the Planning Board.

a. This application must be completely filled in by typewriter or in ink and submitted in duplicate to the Building
Inspector.
b. Plot pion showing locotion of lot ond of buildings on premises, relotionship to odjoining premises or public streets
or areas, and giving 0 detoiled description of loyout of property must be drown on the diagrom which is port of this location.
c. The work covered by this application may not be com menced before issuance of Building Permit.
d. Upon approvol of this application, the Building Inspector will issue 0 Building Permit to the opplicant. Such
permit sholl be kept on the premises available for inspection throughout the progress of the work.
e. No building sholl be occupied or used in whole or in port for ony purpose whatever until a Certificate of Occupancy
shall have been granted by the Building Inspector.
