HomeMy WebLinkAboutMPD-08/10/2006 Minutes of the meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Mattituck Park District held on August 10, 2006, in the office of the Veterans Park building at 11280 Peconic Bay Boulevard, Mattituck, New York 11952, with all Commissioners present, Tom McCaffery, Chairman, Jerome Zuhoski, and Gerard Goehringer, together with Madeline Haas, Secretary, Gail Faircloth, Clerk, Edward Grohoski, Maintenance, Mr. WiIliamson, volunteer worker, Mr. Siegmann, taxpayer, Gail Wickham, Attorney for the District, Tanya Negron and Ed Mooney, representatives of Highlander Consultants, Inc. Absent: John Cushman, Treasurer At 7:00 P.M. Gerard Goehringer swore in the Inspectors of Election, Gail Faircloth and Barbara Goehringer, for the vote on the Mattituck Park District's proposed budget for 2007. Tom McCaffery, Chairman, called the meeting to order. On motion of Tom McCaffery, seconded by Gerard Goehringer and carried, the minutes of the July 13, 2006 meeting were approved as presented. On motion of Jerome Zuhoski, seconded by Gerard Goehringer and carried, the Treasurer's report for August, 2006, was approved and the foIlowing bills ordered paid: Cash Cash in Time Cash in MBWCLASS Total Assets BILLS ORDERED PAID: AT&T Barker's Pharmacy Corazzini Asphalt, Inc. The Casey request for the use of the Aldrich Lane basketball courts for a memorial tournament was held on July 15,2006. The Volleyball Tournament was held at the Breakwater site and reported to be a success. They are contemplating another Tournament before the end of the season. Gail Faircloth reported that when Barbara Droskoski was contacted about having no lifeguards on duty at Breakwater site on July 8th, 2006, she didn't know they weren't there because they never called to tell her. Edward Grohoski reported that Health Department okayed everything about the beaches. Ed also reported he hasn't heard about the chairs he ordered for the office. He will call again. C.O. was discussed and Gerard Goehringer reported that as soon as the Artco information is received, the survey will be certified and taken to the Town for approval. The Commissioners have hired David Zazeski to work as a laborer for the Park District commenci;,2 / or., at an hourly wage of $~ D Mr. Siegmann asked for some information on the budget. His questions were answered. He thanked the Commissioners for giving him satisfaction and asked if it would be possible to have a meeting before the date of the next budget vote so that any questions of the taxpayers could be answered. The Commissioners agreed to have an informational meeting prior to the night of the budget vote from now on. He left the meeting and seemed satisfied. Tanya Negron spoke on the proposal for a tower to be put up for wireless telecommunication on the Veterans Memorial Park site of the Mattituck Park District. Mr. Ed Mooney from Highlander Consultants, Inc. was also present. Tanya answered questions and gave answers ie. They will surround the compound with greenery here at Veterans Park, but not touch any of the trees - the tower would be approximately 12 feet away from the building. Mr. Goehringer said that the FAA doesn't want a flag at the top of the tower. Tanya and Mr. Mooney did not know there was an airport locally. Gerry told them it was nearby but was unmanned as far as having a control tower. In July The East End Lioness! Lions Club of Matti tuck, New York sent a letter to the Park District enclosing a donation of $300.00. This was a contribution from their fund raising events. Ed Grohoski was told to call the manufacturer of the sod machine that has been purchased to tell them about all the things that have gone wrong with the machine. On motion of Jerry Zuhoski, seconded by Gerry Goehringer and carried, that Light House Security is to up-grade the smoke detector at Bailey Beach building at a cost of $1240.00. Commissioners have bought 5 Nextel telephones for the three Commissioners, one for Ed Grohoski, and one for Carl Stelzer. Gail Faircloth will use her own. Gail Wickham told the Commissioners she definitely wants to give the Cedar tree to the Park District. It can be moved in the fall. Gail Wickham reported calling the DEC about the racking of the beaches. The man she was dealing with is no longer there and the women she had on the phone didn't know anything about it. We definitely need a permit but we won't get it until next season. Ed is going to try raking Bailey's Beeach with our tractor. Gail Wickham and Eric Bressler brought in an Equal Employee Harassment Free Work Place Policy Statement. On motion of Tom McCaffery, seconded by Jerry Zuhoski and carried, all employees of the Mattituck Park District have to sign the Equal Employee Harassment Free Work Place Policy Statement. No further business to come before the meeting, on motion of Jerome Zuhoski, seconded by Tom McCaffery and carried, the meeting was adjourned. The result was: Number of Voters Registered: 15 Number Ballots Cast 15 Number YES Ballots 14 Number NO Ballots 1 $467,527.00 Budget for 2007 passed.
