Dear Mr. Orlowski:
As per your request, I have reviewed the plan that was submitted for the
above referenced project. The new permanent roof section that has been designed
for this site appears to be slightly larger than the existing canvas/awning roof system.
The increase in roof run-off generated by this additional area will be insignificant
when compared to the total runoff generated by this site.
Your request for a determination concerning the porosity of the soil can not
be evaluated from the information contained on the plans provided. Test holes and
soil samples would need to be evaluated and laboratory testing would be required to
verify the permeability of the existing soil conditions at the site. However, to the best
of my knowledge, there has never been any significant run-off or drainage problems
associated with this site. State Route 25 runs along the southerly property line and it
has a drainage system that is connected to a large sump immediately opposite the
site in question. All site run-off generated at this facility that may reach the State Road
will ultimately be directed to this sump. Since the proposed construction will not significantly
increase the amount of run-off and since all run-off will ultimately be directed into a recharge
system, additional drainage is not recommended for this project.
Your request for review of the proposed setbacks for conformity to Town Code can
not be reviewed without a surveyor site plan that indicates what the proposed setbacks are.

The Board has received your letter of March 15, 2000, regarding the
replacement of the canvas awning at the above restaurant with a
permanent roof.
The plan that you submitted will be sent to the Town Engineer for
drainage review. Please submit two additional plans for review by the
Town's Architectural Review Committee.
As soon as the requested plans are received and reviewed you will be
informed by letter of the results of both reviews.

The attached plan for the replacement of a canvas awning with a
permanent roof has been sent to the Planning Department for review. As
you will note, dry wells have not been provided to collect the storm water.
Please review to determine if the porosity of the soil is sufficient for
this project. Also, please review setbacks for conformity to Town
Code.

REQUEST
Applicant wishes to remove canvas over outdoor eating patio and replace
it with a permanent roof.
REVIEW
This is a pre-submission review.
The new permanent roof has gutters and down spots but no dry wells to
collect the water.
No elevation drawings were provided for architectural review.
RECOMMENDA TION
The current plan can be considered an "as built" plan.
Elevation drawings should be provided for informal review by the
Architectural Review Committee.
A drainage review should be made by the Town Engineer. If insufficient
information is on the plan, drainage calculations should be requested.
