Dear Mr. DiLandro:
The Planning Board has received your letter of February 10,
1992, requesting the Board's approval to install fourteen foot
(14') light poles at the 7-Eleven Stores in Greenport and
Southold.
The Board's policy is that all such light poles be no more
than twelve feet (12') in height. Please submit a sketch of the
lighting for our review before you install them.
If you wish to discuss this matter further, the Board will
be happy to meet with you at its next scheduled public meeting
on February 24, 1992. Please call my secretary on the morning of
February 24th, to find out by what time you should be there.
If you have any questions, or require further assistance,
please contact this office.

Dear Mr. Orlowski:
We are in receipt of the Planning Board's letter dated January 29,
1992. We appreciate the approval for the use of a 12 foot light
pole. The plan submitted was designed with a 17 foot pole in mind.
The original plan provided an even spread of light throughout all
heavily traveled areas. We feel a shorter pole will leave
significant dark spots and will necessitate additional poles.
While additional poles may help, they are costly and will not
adequately illuminate distant areas, regardless of how may fixtures
are installed.
7-Eleven is willing to compromise and use a 14 foot pole. While
this is not ideal it should provide adequate illumination for
safety and security our primary concern.
We would like to cesolve this issue as swiftly as possible to our
mutual advantage. If a 14 foot pole is not acceptable, perhaps the
board would allow an informal presentation in the near future.
We anxiously await your reply.
Sincerely, -

The lighting will be installed for safety and security reasons and
consists of shoebox type, 400 watt, metal halide lights on 17'
poles with 3 foot bases. The lights are shielded and reflect on
the 7-Eleven premises only. The Greenport store will have 4 lights
and the Southold store will have 3 lights. We have enclosed
surveys of the properties with the pole locations marked for your
convenience.
Thank you for your assistance with this matter.

Dear Ms. Pascucci:
Following a field inspection of the 7-11 stores at
the above mentioned locations and review of same
at the Planning Board meeting of July 9, 1984, the
Planning Board makes the following recommendation.
It was the consensus of the Board that the proposed
accessory buildin~ should be located in the rear
of the stores. It was also suggested that a leanto
could be constructed in the rear of the stores rather
than the utility building in order to provide more
storage.
