When we talked in the Summer you indicated that the subdivision of our Lighthouse Road Property would be reasonably straight forward. We would, of course, be subject to Town of Southold rules for a minor subdivision but, as you explained them, they seemed fair and reasonable. In fact, after a meeting with the Town Planner, you asked that I have Mr. Van Tuyl prepare a revised survey showing how the Planner suggested we divide the property. I did this at my additional cost because the request appeared reasonable and because I was more than happy to work with the Town. After presenting the plan that the Planner asked for you now say that the Town wants me to construct 450' of 50' wide Town right-of-way followed by 517' of 28' wide right-of-way, the cost of which you estimate at more than $50,000. The purpose of this access road is not to benefit my property but the substantially larger property of o; vers lyiii9 to L j? 5uuGhwes,- or" me. Mr. Raynor , I don't know what to say beyond telling you I can't believe it. How can the Town ask me to spend money to benefit other private interests? What if the land behind me is developed 50 years from now . . or never developed? Does that 50' wide road just sit there? Is the Town going to maintain and plow it? For what purpose?
