I'" 'CO A special meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Fish- ers Island Ferry District was called by the Chairman at 1:00 p,m. in the office of the Ferry District. Present were Com- missioners duPont, Doyen, Baker, Evans, and Edwards. Absent none. The outstanding obligations of The Fishers Island Ferry District in the amount of $31,566.48 as represented by vouch- ers 116 through 135 inclusive were read by the Secretary. A motion was made by Commissioner Edwards and seconded by Com- missioner Evans that the outstanding obIiqations of the Ferry District be paid. Motion was carried unanimously. I I I ~ ... .- Oq motion of Commissioner Baker, seconded by Commissioner Ed- w~rds, it was RESOLVED that $?3.53 be transferred within the 1981 budget from the line item "Repairs Ferry" to the line item "Bonded Indebtedness." Vote of the Board of Commissioners: Ayes: Commissioners duPont, Doyen, Baker, Evans, and Edwards. Nays: None. , r ;.' , ~ & a a ii On motion of Commissioner Doyen. seconded by Cornmiss ioner Baker, it was RESOLVED that bids for painting the Fishers Island Ferry District building at Fishers Island be solicited and that the Town Board of the Town of Southold apporve of said solicitation. I I . ! ; .. .. . ~ On motion of Commissioner Doyen, seconded by Commissioner Evans, it was RESOLVED that, due to the need for increased security at the New London, CT terminal and on board the M!V's MUNNATAW- KET and OLINDA, the Fishers Island F'erry District. contract with Alarm Security Protection Co., New London, CTfor the install- ation and purchase of electronic surveillance and warning de- vices hwere above described at a cost of <lppr0ximately $ 3,500.00 and that the TOWn Board of the Town of South old approve of said contract. Vote of the Board of Commissioners: Ayes: Commissioners duPont, Doyen, Baker, Evans, and Edwards. Nays: None. ii On motion of Commissioner Evans, seconded by Commissioner Doyen, it was RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners of the Fishers Island Ferry District hereby sets the per annum salary of its Manager-Secretary, Robert P. Knauff, at $24,000.00 per annum effective M"y 1, 1981 and reque;:;ts that the Town Soard of the Town of Southold approve said salary. Vote of the Board of Commissioners: Ayes: Commiss ioners duPont, Doyen, Baker, Evans, and Edwards. 'We received a 10% discount on the purchase with freight prepaid. 2. New Morse controls for the after maneuvering stat- ion on MUNNATAWKET have been purchased and installed. The old controls have a cast white metal shaft which did not h"ld up well. Capt. 'Wilcox is Looking into having the old controls rebuilt with stronger materials to be maintained as a spare set. 3. The freight flat which had been run over and dam- aged by a Gerrity Lumber truck has been repaired by oper- ator personnel, principally Capt. Wilcox. The company will be billed for the cost of repairs when all material invoices are received. 4. Themail wagon is being rebuilt by operator person- nel. The old mail wago!,\ currently in Ufie, is in delapidated condition. The new version will be fabr:icat;"rl of. steeL and will be lower and wider than the present' niOdei:'~ . "'. '" 5. There has been another increase in Hospitalization payments. Effective August 1, 1981, the ~onthly payment will be $334.76, a 34% increase. ' 6. lone Norton, bookkeeper, is to be reimbursed for medi-care deductions from her social security payments. She has been requested to determine the amount previously deducted as she has not collected on a continuing basis. 'I'he amount to be repaid is $9.60 per month. This amount will increase to $11.00 effective July 1, 1981. 7. Mrs. John Bogert of Fishers Island has requested that signs stating that camping is not allowed on Fishers Island be posted at the New London Terminal and at the Fishers Island Ferry landing. Attorney Tasker has been contacted and has affirmed that Southold zoning codes prohibit camping except by permit. The signs will be erected at Mrs. Bogert's expense as per her request. 8. Hours for taking automobile reservations tOL' leaving Fishers Island have been firmly established as sl10wn on the vessel schedule. 9. A letter has been sent to Mr. Sherman Glass at the NYS DOT expressing the Commissioners' concern over non-act iv- :l.ty as concerns the $175,000.00 appropriation passed with the State 'supplemental budget in 1980 and reported- to' the F'erry District by Assemblyman Behan on December 2, 1980. 10. It was requested that the Board of Commissioners set a policy concerning receipt of large quant.ities of heavy freight which do not allow for use of freight handling equipment. The manager was directed to notify local contractors "surprise" shipments may be refused, and request that suppliers be advised to palletize shipments or give adequate notice of arrival.
