HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/17/1973 A special meeting of the Board of Co~issioners was called by the Chairman July 17, 1973 and held in the office of the Ferry District at 5:3' P.M.. Present were Commissioners Doyen, Baldwin, Edmonds, Morell, Foyle and W. C. Sinclair, Manager and Mr. S. Perkins, Auditor for the District. Chairman Doyen opened the meeting and stated Mr. Perkins would like to explain a proposed budget. He spoke about creatiag a reserve a reserve fund. Comm. Baldwin said that to do this it it would have to come before the public as this is what they had to do in the Fire District. Mr. Perkins said that with the estimated surplus and depreciatiion the budget would be about S37,.... Chairaan Doyen spoke on what the Town does. General discussion ensued on a reserve for depreciation. It was suggested that any surplus at end of year be transferred to a reserve for what ever is needed for the operation. Mr. Perkins then read proposed budget for 1974. Mr. Perkins said he will talk with Mr. Tasker regarding setting up a reserve for depreciation. The Manager said that a new roof for the airport would be in the neighborhood of S25... General discussion ensued on this. Co... 8aldwin stated that he believes that most of the wooden supports under the eaisting room are rotten and would have to be replaced. If this is the case the figure would be more realisticly about S5.... It was also reco.mended that paving be done around the airport, plus a new lighting system. Com.. 8aldwin also said we should allow S5... for repairs to each r..p of the Mystic Isle. The Board agreed with this. They also were of one mind that we should budget everything in spite of any surplus. General discussion ..suecl on what possible taxes shoul41 be raised by the District. .Co.aissioner Doyen said the Manager contacted him with regard to the new engines of the Mystic Isle and sinae the repowering has been put off until some time this fall, the Contractor, Mr. John Wronoski of the Thames Shipyard and repair Company had requested that if at all possible he be paid at this time for the two engines, Approximately $3.,.... This will have to be checked out with Mr. Tasker. As no further Business was pending a MOtion was made to adjourn and unanimously carried at i:5' P.M. Approved: . .
