N.Y. 06390 From: Fisners Island Conservancy, Inc. June 28, 1988 To: Members of the Southold Town Board Subject: A "stop Day" on Fishers Island for toxic Haste disposal. Under the auspices of the Fishers Island Conservancy and Gouncilman Raymond Edlvards, a "stop Day" is being planned for Fishers Island Hhereby durin~ one designated day residents can deDosit thG~ toxic household Haste (mostly old paint cans, pesticide containers, etc.) in a pre-designated dump site, there to be carted off the Island by a specially qualified and properly permitted waste hauler operating under state and tOHn supervision, qualification, and permission. . It is the intent of t,lis letter to request official Southold co-operation and sanction for holding this environmentally-needed occasion, and this letter also suggests that, if possible, the Fishers Island "Stop Day" oe scheduled to coincide with a similar "stop Day" being held in the tOHn of Southold on tile mainland. If possible, it is also suggested that a day in August 0e chosen for this occasion so that a maximum of summer residents De present on the Island, resulting hopefully in an equally maximum a~ount of toxic material being removed from the Island due to the efforts of all residents - both summer and year-round.
