Dear Mr. Orlowski:
The required road construction that was outlined in my May 21,1998 Report
has been completed by the owners.
The new roadway, as constructed, extends for the entire 970' length and
has a sixteen foot wide two (2") inch wearing surface of 3/4" stone blend material.
The roadway has been properly graded and the trees in the Right-of-Way have been
cleared and all branches have been trimmed in a satisfactory manner.
The above referenced road construction is considered satisfactory and meets
the minimum requirements of the Town Highway Specifications.

I have had a request from Michael Verity to inspect the roads within the above
referenced Subdivision. The approved subdivision was a four (4) lot minor with a fifty (50')
wide Right of Way that is nine hundred seventy (970') feet in length. The road construction,
as approved by the planning board, required that a twenty-five (25') foot wide road be
constructed down the center of the R.O.W. This road was to consist of a four (4") inch bed
of Pea Gravel over a satisfactory and well compacted sub-base of existing materials found
at the site.
Currently, the existing road only extends into the site approximately four hundred
eighty (480') feet. This portion of the road is approximately sixteen (16') feet wide and
appears to be sand or a bank-run material that has some minor grading problems. The
existing road is also in need of some minor tree trimming that would provide adequate
access for fire trucks and other related emergency vehicles.
At this time, I would offer the following recommendations for your approval.
1. Road width - the current specification for a four lot minor is sixteen (16').
Since the existing road is of the same approximate width, I would recommend
that the remaining road section be constructed to that same width over the
entire length of 970'.
2. Sub-base - the existing topsoil within the 16' wide road section should be
removed. The remaining loam material should be mixed with sand below and
compacted to provide a suitable base material for the road. The road section
should be graded in such a manner that puddling or standing water will not
exist.

3. Wearing surface - the wearing surface of the entire road should be a two (2")
inch lift of stone blend material. (Note: RCA blend is not allowed by code as
a finish wearing surface.)
The above referenced road improvements are considered to be a reduction from the
original construction required by Planning Board approvals. However, these improvements
are in keeping with the current Highway specifications listed in the Code today. I would also
recommend that all of this work be completed over the entire proposed road prior to
Issuance of any Building Permits.

January 30, 1974 a Minor Subdivision was granted
regarding property we own on Old North Road in Southold.
Last year we requested permission to build a private
access road serving the interior lots. Your engineer
Mr. Boge suggested that the road be constructed 25 feet wide,
using 5 inches of pea gravel placed on the topsoil.
However, we would feel safer if the road would be
constructed by removal of the topsoil in the bed of the road,

Gentlemen:
A site inspection was conducted on 10/13/87. Present were Mr.
Raymond Dean and Mr. C.S. Heffernan, both from this office, and Mr.
Raymond Nine, a sub-contractor for Mr. Cron.
We walked the site and approximated the roadway location, neither
stakeout has been completed, nor a proposed roaday plan and roadway
profile submitted for review.
We advised, Mr. Nine, due to the lack of information and non-com-
pl iance to the submission procedure to abstain from any work. Since
our review of the roadway and drainage requirements may overtly alter
the scope of work suggested in Mr. John W. Dav i s I report number 282,
dated March 2, 1983.
