HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/16/2006 Minutes of the Board of Commissioners of the Mattituck Park District held on May 16,2006, in the office of the Veterans Park building on Peconic Bay Boulevard, Mattituck, New York, 11952, with all Commissioners present: Chairman Tom McCaffery, Jerome Zuhoski and Gerard Goehringer, together with John Cushman, Treasurer, Madeline S. Haas. Secretary, Gail Faircloth, Clerk, Edward Grahoski, Maintenance, Gail Wickham, Attorney for the Board, and Mr. Polistina, representative of the North Side Out volleyball team. Tom McCaffery called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m. On motion of Tom McCaffery, seconded by Jerome Zuhoski and carried, the Secretary's minutes of the April 18, 2006 meeting were approved as presented. Mr. Polistina reported the North Side Out volley ball team will hold their tournament August 20th 21 st with August 2~ and 28th as alternate dates for rain out. He also reported that there will be a fund raiser tournament July I'" 2006. He also asked if the league could pull the sea grass from the volley ball courts. Commissioners advised Mr. Polistena to get in touch with Mr. McMahon to ask if the Town is going to remove the sea grass from the courts at the Breakwater Beach. Summer help - Gail Faircloth said she needed one more girl. She has Denise Goehringer, Beatrice Casaula, Meghan Burns and Catherine Portilla. There is going to be a meeting at the Town some time in June with the Army Corp of Engineers regarding the dredging of the inlet.. There are two access problems: I: Public access getting sand when they dredge and (2) Public access down on to the beach. Gail Wickham will be going to the meeting with Gerard Goehringer. Study to be done by the Corp of Engineers. Cell phones were discussed for summer use. Gail Wickham said she talked to Tanya Negron, Project Manager ofHighJander Consultants, Inc. about the tower for cell phones. They are interested in the Baileys Beach and Veterans Park sites. Gail asked her to give us some type of sketch. Edward Grohoski got two estimates for extending existing fencing at Veterans Park site: Estimate # I: Supply and install a total of 153 feet of 4' high black vinyl system chain link. Leave one 5' wide opening. Total $1818.00 Estimate#2: Supply and install a total of 191 feet of 4'high black vinyl system chain link. Install one 10' wide double drive gate. Total $2640.00. The big trees at Aldrich Lane site were discussed. Gail Wickham has some cedar trees that the Commissioners can come and look at RECEIVED AUG 1 6 2006 Sourhol~ Town CIeri Gail Wickham left the meeting. Gerard Goehringer spoke about a plaque for Mr. William Wickham that had been discussed by the Commissioners back in 1989 or so and nothing had been done. He presented the idea of having a plaque made up for Mr. Wickham and Gail Wickham. To be looked into. Edward Grohoski is to order 15 chairs for the office. On motion of Tom McCaffery, seconded by Jerone Zuhoski and carried, a new truck is to be ordered through state contract: Specifications: 6 cylinder, 5 speed, automatic transmission - $10,780 plus $60 delivery charge. Kevin Romanoski to resurface the Yacht Club and Breakwater parking lots.
