Dear Sir:
I have enclosed a letter sent to the Building Department registering
a complaint about a large boat being stored on the property contiguous to
my firm's office. The complaint was promptly answered by Mr. Lessard and
it was his belief that the storage of the boat was not a prohibited use
under the zoning law.
My purpose of this letter is to advise you and the other members of
the Board that both Mr. Gillispie and Mr. Caminiti have not complied with
what they stated would be the use of the property. Professional office
space was the intent stated, not the storage of old wooden boats.
Can the Board take any action to have the boat removed?
Thank you for your attention in this matter and please keep in mind
the actions of these gentlemen if they appear before the Board again as
they have not played "by the rules".

Dear Sir:
Please accept this letter as a formal complaint against Mr. Robert
Gillispie III who is the owner of the contiguous property south of my
firm's office building. It is my opinion that the storage of a boat does
not comply with the permitted uses of B-1 zoned property. In addition,
the boat and the debris surrounding it constitute both a safety hazard
as well as an eyesore.
Please process this letter through the proper channels and advise me
accordingly,
Thank you for your attention in this matter.

Re: Kaplan/Gillispie
Minor Subdivision
Dear Mr. Gillispie:
Please let this confirm our discussion and action on
the above captioned application at our meeting of June 20,
1983.
"
Prior to our meeting we made an on site field inspec-
tion of this property. Our Board noted three lots existed
for many years and have become merged. The two lots you
propose are undersized; lot number one having an area of
approximately 10,954 square feet and lot number two having
an area of approximately 8,500 square feet. "Our Board has
no objection to the site plans as submitted, but do ques-
tion the possibility of obtaining additional parking to the
east of the property.
The fOllowing action was taken by the Board:
RESOLVED tfiat the Southold Town Planning Board disapprove
the subdivision application of Kaplan/Gillispie~s each pro-
posed lot is undersized, however, the Board sees no objection
to the site plan as submitted.
As stated by the Board, a copy of this resolution will be
forwarded to the Zoning Board of Appeals. Confirmation and
prodecure for application to the Zoning Board of Appeals with
regard to your proposal may be obtained by contacting the Build-
ing Department.
Very truly yours,
HENRY E. RAYNOR, JR., CHAIRMAN
SOUTHOLD TOWN PLANNING BOARD

Robert W. Gillispie, III,
et al.
Dear Sirs:
In reference to the above and in furtherance of the
conversation had with Susan Long of your office, I am enclosing
an original and three copies of the site plan for the Dr. Stevens
house.
This is being submitted to supplement the above application
and for your information and guidance. I propose to use the
major portion of the house as my law office with the remaining
portions being offered for rent to other professionals. I am
designating the building as the Southold Professional Building
and there will therefore be no retail businesses located in
the building.
Ms. Long informed me that there was a field inspection and
as you are well aware of, the building is surrounded by beautiful
shrubs. I would like to maintain the architecture of the building
as well as the landscaping and would prefer not to remove any
of the existing shrubs. I believe that I can safely provide for
the necessary parking without disturbing the integrity of the
landscaping in the rear of the house as shown in the proposed
site plan.
Thank you.
