HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/06/2005 ," April 6,2005 Community Center Meeting Present: .Judi - .John - Karla - Sara - .Jeanne - Gail - Grace - Charlie Some initial banter before the call to order at 5:00pm concerned the superbly crafted recent edition of "The Fog Horn". Well done, Lady!! There were four agenda items: . The FIDCO Feasibility Study for "Reuse Of Building 98" . The proposal to FIDCO concerning our plans for the building . The brochure design for the Community Center . Development of the "Campus Concept" The FIDCO Feasibility Study... There was discussion concerning the square footage numbers, the elevator and air-conditioning. .John will contact the CME people for verifications. It was thought that the cost estimates were very reasonable. This document will be attached to the FIDCO proposal. The proposal to FIDCO... The letter is to be written by .John and Sara. It will request that the Community Center occupy % of the space. (N.B. The following square foot numbers are all rough estimates.) The space would be allocated to a bowling alley on the 1" floor (3000sf) with (2000sf) for further development. The 2nd floor would include: Fitness Center (2000sf). A locker/changing area is a matter under debate, however a small portion of the Fitness Center would be for an office. Two areas, one large and one small would be allocated (3000sf). These would be considered multi-purpose and be used for movie viewing, kitchen (ette), . senior and teen centers. Another (600sf) would be prepared for a Dedicated Distance Learning space and Video Conferencing. The letter will be presented to the FIDCO Board at their May m_ting in NYC by representatives of the Community Center Committee. The brochure.... Since the brochure will be crucial to the summer fund raising effort, .John said that it should be in the printers hands by May 15th. "Mere" and Gail are to sketch the landscaping for the "campus concept" which will be included in the brochure design. .Judi has some initial layout work based on the Walsh Park presentation. The Campus Concept... .John mentioned that Bruce is very interested in the idea and he will be contacting him prior to next week's meeting. As mentioned above, "Mere" and Gail will be preparing landscaping sketches. Additional items: Sara mentioned that the committee will need to raise a million dollars during the summer. Gail presented two fund raising initiatives. (Citizens Bank and IPP) It was noted that the committee is following the survey priorities to the degree possible at this time. The pool, day care and the arts and crafts center will be added as funds become available and the "campus concept" expands. .John will explore one aspect of this. .John said that the groups 501 (C.3) status was being developed. It will be a necessary feature for the fun raising this summer. Next meeting - Wednesday, April 13th at noon. Village Office
