CALL TO ORDER
FISHERS ISLAND SCHOOL DISTRICT
ANNUAL SCHOOL DISTRICT MEETING
May 18, 1999
7:30 P.M.
This meeting was held In the gymnasium of the Fishers Island School and was
called to order at 7:31 p.m. by Chairperson James Suedmeler.

ACTUAL VOTE
Kathleen Koehnen, Superintendent, and approximately thirty-five Island
residents.
Chairperson Suedmeier led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Motion by Kenneth Edwards, seconded by J. Well, and carried, the
reading of the notice of the Annual Meeting as It appeared In The Day and
The Suffolk Times was waived.
K. Koehnen explained the three component of the proposed 1999-2000
budget. Several overhead transparencies were projected.
Mary Walter asked about planning for the elementary school. K. Koehnen
explained the summer "think tank" program to develop a three-year plan for
curriculum.
Cal Beggs asked about the BOCES service charges.
Mary Walter asked about field trips.
Marilyn Yakaitis asked if field trips were totally funded by the Board.
Louisa Evans asked what revenue was listed under Revenues other than taxes.
Marilyn Yakaitis asked if there would be an increase in the number of library
books purchased.
Marilyn Yakaitis asked if BOCES would be contacted for help in the selection
of library books.
Superintendent K.oehnen and Chairperson Suedmeler explained the voting
procedure for the budget proposition and the BOE vacancies.
The Inspectors of Election (Carol Doherty, Charles Stepanek, Mary Strunk
and Alan Thibodt:au) were called forth and sworn in.
Chairperson Suedmeier deciared the polls open at 8: 17 p.m.
The polls were deciared ciosed at 9:01 p.m.

Proposition # 1
"RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Fishers Island Union Free
School District #4, Fishers Island, New York, be and is authorized to expend
the sum of $2, 145,563 for the school year 1999-2000 set forth in the
estimate of General Fund Appropriations, and to raise the sum of
$20,000 for Repair Reserve, and hereby is authorized to levy the
necessary tax there for."
