REGULAR MEETING
BOARD OF EDUCATION
FISHERS ISLAND SCHOOL DISTRICT

CALL TO ORDER Meeting was held in the Social Studies room of the Fishers Island
School and was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Board of Education
President James Suedmeler.
MEMBERS PRESENT Christopher Edwards, Jeffrey Edwards, Susan Horn, Aaron Lusker and
James Suedmeler
OTHERS PRESENT Two community members.

APPROVAL OF
MINUTES
Motion by C. Edwards, seconded by J. Edwards, and carried, the
minutes of the regular meeting of July 21, 1998 were approved as
submitted.
FINANCE
Motion by S. Horn, seconded by C. Edwards, and carrIed, the
reading of the bank reconciliations prepared by the secretary, for the
month ended July 31, 1998 was accepted.

Motion by J. Edwards, seconded by S. Horn, and carried, July 1998
General Fund expendItures (checks #22236 - #22286) in the amount of
$46,806.31 were approved.

Motion by S. Horn, seconded by J. Edwards, and carried, August 1998
General Fund warrants/checks #22307-#22371 in the amount of
$27,956.46 and Faculty Housing warrants/checks #720-#721 In the
amount of $1,082.59 were approved for payment.

FUEL OIL
CONTRACT
FURNACE
CLEANING/FH
Motion by J. Edwards, seconded by J. Suedmeler, and carried, the Board
awarded the fuel 011 contract for the 1998-99 school year to Island Mobil .
at the bid price of "Groton Hess tank price plus $ .1225 per gallon for
transportatlon and any and all others costs."
Motion by J. Suedmeier, seconded by S. Horn, and carried, (c. Edwards -
abstain) the Board awarded the Faculty Housing furnace cleaning contract
to BD Remodeling & Restoratlon at the bid price of $775.00.
TAX ANTICIPATION Motion by J. Edwards, seconded by J. Suedmeler, and carried, the
NOTE following resolutlon was approved by the Board.
"WHEREAS, It is considered desirable that the Chief Fiscal Officer
of the Fishers Island Union Free School District, Town of Southold,
Suffolk County, New York (the "School District") be authorized to
issue Tax Anticlpatlon Notes at such times as the need arises:
NOW, THEREFORE, be It
RESOLVED, by the Board of Educatlon of the Fishers Island Union
Free School District, Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York,
that In accordance with the provisions of the Local Finance Law, the
power to authorize the Issuance of, and to sell, tax anticlpatlon notes
in antlclpatlon of real estate taxes to be collected during the fiscal year
1998-1999 including renewals of such notes, is hereby delegated to
the President of the Board of Education, the Chief Fiscal Officer.
Such notes shall be of such terms, form and contents, and shall be
sold in such manner, as may be prescribed by the President of the
Board of Education, consistent with the provisions of the Local
Finance Law.
This resolutlon shall take effect Immediately.

BUDGET CONTROL Board members received copies of the June 30, 1998 budget control
REPORTS reports.
CORRESPONDENCE J. Suedmeier shared correspondence concerning the 1998 Annual
School Boards Convention (Oct. 22-25).

LIAISON
OLD BUSINESS:
Motion by J. Suedmeier, seconded by J. Edwards, and carried, the
Board nominated Chris Edwards to be the Legislative Liaison for the
Fishers Island Board of Education.

J. Suedmeler reported on research he had done on gym floor warranties.
It was the consensus of the Board to have the architect seek bids for
replacing the gymnasium floor.
J. Suedmeier reported that he expected to hear from Joseph Reeves
shortly.
The Board requested a Housing Committee meeting.
The Board will request a quote and description of coverage from NYSIR.
The Board reviewed the agenda.
Mike Imbrlgllo asked about the Bowling Alley roof replacement.
The Board set Tuesday, August 25, at 5:00 p.m. as the date and time of
special Board of Education meeting to discuss the Bowling Alley roof,
the Superintendent Search, and an Executive Session for personnel.
Motion by C. Edwards, seconded by J. Edwards, and carried, the Board
adjourned by Executive Session at 8:41 p.m. to discuss personnel.
Motion by J. Edwards, seconded by A. Lusker, and carried, the Board
returned to Regular Session at p.m.
