7. ~equest made by Mary Ann Faevel, director of the gymnastic
program, Southold, to use the name Southold Town Gymnastics. since
the use of "Southold Town" would denote backing of the town, only the
use of "Southold" can be permitted.
8. Parking problems in the Sandy Beach area and Founders Landing
have been referred to Chief Cataldo for study and recommendations.
9. Request for dredging permits to the Corps of Army Engineers
and D.E.C. by Alec Ruskowski, Smith Drive, Goose Creek, Southold.
10. Request for permission to build a dock, ramp, and bulkhead
to the D.E.C. by Angelo Silveri, Wiggins Lane, Greenport.
On motion of Councilman Homan, seconded by Justice Suter, it was
RESOLVED that James Wall, Bishers Island, New York be and hereby
is appointed to the Southold Town Planning Board to fill the position
vacated by the late Alfred E. Grebe, effective November 1, 1976 to
April 30, 1977.
Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman
Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest.
This resolution was declared duly adopted.
Supervisor Martocchia:
11. Notification from the Fishers Island Electric Corp. that
there has been a 10% increase in street lighting; fixtures which
were $55.00 per year are now $61~60.
12. Item 19 on the agenda is a study being made by the Highway
Department relative to a road on Nassau Point, Cutchogue.
13. Letter from Assemblymen Doryea's office relative to spraying
for ticks, stating they feel they have enough funds to do a good job
in reducing the problem considerably.
On motion of Justice Demarest, seconded by Councilman Homan, it was
RESOLVED that $8,000.00 be and hereby is transferred from Surplus to
Street Lighting.
Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman
Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest.
This resolution was declared duly adopted.
Supervisor Martocchia:
14. Explained the necessity for the above transfer: $60,000.00
was budgeted for this years street lighting, anticipating the town
would have most of their own lights up by April or May. There has
been severe difficulty withLILCO coordinating the program. There
is to be a meeting with LILCO on Friday to iron out certain problems.
This transfer will only cover bills up to September 30th, and October,
November, and December must still be covered.
15. Letter from Julia Matlaw, Nassau Point, Cutchogue, commending
the police for helping her at a time of distress on two occasions.
On motion of Justice Demarest, seconded by Justice Suter, it was
RESOLVED that Mary Morse be and she hereby is apppinted clerk-typist
in the office of the supervisor, from a current civil service list,
as a part-time employee at $3.75 per hour.
Vote of the Town Board: Ayes: Supervisor Martocchia, Councilman
Rich, Councilman Homan, Justice Suter, Justice Demarest.
This resolution was declared duly adopted.
Supervisor Martocchia:
16. Explained that Mary Morse has been working on a part-time
basis for about a year. A full salary has been privided for her in
the budget at $6,000.00, but it is not anticipated she will be a
full-time employee. Mrs. Ashworth is retiring as of October 31st,
and Mrs. Richter will be taking her place, as well as an additional
clerk-typist who is now in the office.
17. Request from Oregon View Estates for a bond release cannot
be approved as the conditions have not been met.
