MEETING OF JANUARY 31, 1956

The Southold Town Board met at the office of Supervisor Norman E.
Klipp at Greenport, on Tuesday, January 31, 1956. The meeting was
called to order at 1:30 P.M. with the following present:
Supervisor Klipp' Justices Tuthill, Clark Demnrest and Edwards;
Councilman Albertson; Superintendent of HIghways Price; Town Attorney
Terry and Town Clerk Booth.
Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That t~~ ~inutes of the previous meeting be and hereby
are duly approved as read.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill,
ClarkI Demarest and Edwards add
Counc lman Albertson.
Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLV,D: That the regular monthly Audit meeting of this Board
will meet at the Office of Supervisor Norman E. Klipp at Greenport
on Tuesday, February 14, 1956, at 1:30 P.M.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark,
Demarest and Edwards and Councilman Albertsom.
Stanley Case and Stanley Simchick, Commissioners of the Cutchogue
Fire Department appeared before the Board and requested permission
be granted them to install a well at the Southold Town Dump, as
the firemen had been called out on several occasions during the past
year to extinguish fires at the dump. Supervisor Klipp stated that
he thought the installation of the well is the responsibility of
the Town.
Moved by Councilman Albertson; seconded by Justice Tuthill:
RESOLVED: That the Town Board direct the Commissioners of the
Cutchogue Fire District to procure an estimate on the installation
of a well'at the Town Dump, not to exceed the sum of $1,000.00
and report back to the Board their findings.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justice. Tuthill, Clark,
Demarest and Edwards and Councilman
Albertson.
Moved by Justice Clark; seconded by Uouncilman Albertson:
RESOLVED: That Edwin S. Conklin, Building Inspector, Town of
Southold, be and he hereby is authorized to attend the Fourth
Session of the 1955-56 School for Enforcement Officers and Fire
Inspectors under the Multiple Residents Law to be held at Garden
City, New York, on Thursday, February 16, 1956, and be it
further
RESOLVED: That the ~ecessary expenses incurred while attending said
meeting is a legal charge against the Town.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark,
and Demarest and Councilman Albertson.
Supervisor Klippp read a resolution whiqh he received from the Better
Brookhaven Committee.

Moved by Justice Demarest; seconded by Justice Clark:
RESOLVED: That pursuant to Section 102 Sub-division 1 of the Town
Law, the Town Board does hereby authorize all vxpenses necessarily
incurred and paid by any town officer in executing the duties of
his office including actual and necessary expenses for travel, a
legal charge against the Town.
Vote of Town Board: Ayes-Supervisor Klipp; Justices Tuthill, Clark
and Demarest and Councilman Albertson.
There were lengthy discussions on matters pertaining to Fishers Island.
Supervisor Klipp stated to Justice Edwards that the Town Board has
no objection to the installation of ten additional street lights in
the Fishers Island Lighting District if approved by the Public Service
Commission. Supervisor Klipp thought the amount of $40. per light
was excessive in comparison to $19.20 charged by the L.I.L.Co. in the
rest of the lighting districts in the Town. Justice Edwards indicated
that the rates were approved by the Public Service Commiision and he
decided to procure the rqtes. Supervisor Klipp inquired of Justice
Edwards if any attempt had ever been made by the people of F.I. to
have the F.r. Ferry District law changed. Justice Edwllrds stated that
to his knowledge no such action had ever taken place. For Justice
