Gentlemen:-
Re Dirt road Kir~p Lane, west side of
Laurel Lake off Sound Avenue.
This dirt road is probably ½ mile long and formerly it had on it
two houses.
With the bldg of more houses PLUS the building of giant comm~ial
green houses which are already built, it means large trucks and
cars willconstantly use this small dirt road to gain access to the
green houses and other new houses to be built.
It is no longer a country ~oad but a commercial road. Because of
the volume and size of the traffic that will soon use it, I hope the
planning board will consider whether it should be paved, widened etc
as I am afraid there will be accidents on it. The turns and
visibility is poor in many sections.
If it is at all f~able, it might be a good idea to look at it
Yours truly,
My ho~se is at the end of this dirt road and ~~

Dear Mr. Orlowski~
Along with my residence in East Williston, I have a home on
Laurel Lake and own ~ 10 acres of land and have 200
feet of waterfront.
Beoause of my great interest in nature, ecology, water purity,
etc., I have kept the ten acres wild leaving the original
tiny shack as is. Coincidentally, I am p~esident of an
Audubon group in Nassau County.
There is talk of developing various parts of the watere~ed
area around the lake and as the lakefront is an integral part
of the aquifer we draw on, I am concez~ed about development,
present or future. You are certainly a~a~e that NYS has
p,,*~ased some land around Laurel Lake to aid in maintaining
water Quality.
I suggest that any buildi~ close to the lake, or on any of the
mmrshland adjoining the lake be considered very carefully.
Should the Board of Health and DEC be contacted to consider
all the ramifications of further building, and especially on
or close to ma~shland?
S~ ~p.~. Very tx~ly yours,
believe Laurel Lake has been consider a possible emergency
source of drinking water for the surrounding area. In such
a case it is mrgent that the purity of the water not be
endangered by excessive bldg.

Dear Mr. Orlowski,
We ~re vez~y much concerned over the p~oposed development by
Peconic Homes on Laurel Ls~ke.
In ~ddition to complete disregard of two acre zoning, many of the
houses are to be built within the lake's water shed. When the trees
are destroyed there will be no buffer to prevent an influx of nutrient
laden water into the lake. As building continues, soil erosion will
ta~e place too. Both the nutrients ~nd erosion will adversely affect
the fine delicate eco system existing here today.
We found the enclosed article to be most informative and wish to
bring it to you~ attention. Our engineering report presented to
the board on August 20 by Mark Gross is available to you at any
time.
