Randy Parsons, The Nature Conservancy, attended to discuss LPC’s offer,
potential county involvement [executive session]
Randy gave update on preservation efforts with landowners. Proposal is for
Town and County to purchase as tenants in common (50% undivided interest) for
open space purposes. The Town/County purchase would exclude the house and
approximately ½ acre around the house. The house lot is proposed to be
purchased by North Fork Housing Alliance to remain as an affordable home.
MOTION
made by John Sepenoski, seconded by Lillian Ball, to direct Randy
Parsons of The Nature Conservancy to propose an offer to the landowners that
North Fork Housing Alliance would purchase the house and approximately ½
acre surrounding it, and the rest of the property would be bought by County of
Suffolk and Town of Southold as partners with a 50% undivided interest as
tenants in common.

Tim Caufield, Peconic Land Trust, attended to discuss status of LPC’s offer
[executive session]
Tim Caufield gave status update on progress of Shur property contract. The
th
setting of the public hearing may be scheduled during the July 11 Town Board
meeting (Public Hearing would be July 25, 2006). Peconic Land Trust will be
buying the farm acreage after the Shur’s sell the development rights to the Town.
Tim discussed another potential interested buyer for the land and house prior to
the PDR sale; however, potential purchaser wanted to create another residential
lot. LPC not favorable to creating new residential lot near existing home as
potential buyer has suggested.

Melissa Spiro and Tim Caufield have both met with landowner who seems
interested in selling fee title to wooded acreage to Town as open space.
Note: Landowners previously sold 11.12 acre development rights easement to
Town on adjoining parcel (1000-125-1-6.4) in 1997.
MOTION
made by Ray Huntington, seconded by John Sepenoski, to direct
Melissa Spiro to commission an appraisal for fee title purposes of the ±11 acre
wooded parcel subdivided from the development rights easement previously
purchased by the Town.

commission an appraisal for a development rights easement on ±9.5 acres of the
property.
